Hello there fokes,

My system is:
2,8 Ghz intel pentium with 800 mhz Busrate
Asus P4P800SE (read more about this motherboard at www.asus.com)
512 DDR Ram (266mhz) as it been shown in my Pc monitor.
Geforce FX5700LE 256TD (256 Ram)

I,m planning to buy some extra ram
for example
1x 1024 DDR Ram
2x 1024 DDR Ram (to get 2 gigs)

My question is what is the best to buy and whats the adviced the amount off Mhz to take (currently 512 DDR ram 266Mhz)

if you can please post as much data about the ram posible please and how much its going to cost

Thank You

I'd recommend coirsair @ www.newegg.com

You can get value ram or performance ram, their both the same in terms of capacity, but the timings are different, so yeah, one is faster, the other isnt as fast.

I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820145575 which performs very well, and is compatible with your board too. You may have to configure the timings in your system bios to the advertised speed (2-3-3-6), my board set them higher when i installed it, so changing it lower is pretty easy.

Jumping from 512 to 2GB (Which I did not to long ago).. you will definately notice the difference.

take out the 512 since ram runs at teh slowest one... i also recomend corsair, get a good 2 X 1gb that will = 2 gb so it will be enough

I'm confused... your system should be running at 200Mhz FSB, so your ram should not be running at 266 (that's 133Mhz FSB).  I'm no genius on Intel chips though... (amd myself).  You should be getting 400Mhz hence the pc3200/ddr400 rating.
For the best deals go to fatwallet and search hot deals.  Start by searching for ddr.  You should be able to get a 2 gig kit for between $120 and $160.  Maybe better.  I haven't been watching for anything less than ddr500 lately.

WOW dude,

If I read everything correctly from what I've seen in your specs your memory really suck no offence...
Unless you over clocked the memory it's running at timings of 3-3-3-8 @ 200Mhz single channel not very good and your biggest problem next to the video card, hence the upgrade right?

First off your only using one stick even though the P4P800SE is a dual channel board you probably know this.

My personal suggestion would the the 2x1G of OCZ platium, they will run at 2-2-2-5@200MHz and keep very respectable timings at higher fsb.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820227080

This pair is less than 200 bucks it's acctually rated at 500 MHz ddr @3-3-3-8 but will do muct tighter timingas at ddr 400 Mhz DDR (PC3200, fsb 200Mhz), probably 2-2-2-5 or at least 2-3-2-5.

OCZ Plat's have several different models in 2x1G in anycase they will all perform about the same when given the same timings. The major difference between the plat's is what they are actually tested for not nessary what they are made of.
Like OCZ, Patriot also makes some good stuff at reasonable prices but have no personal experience with them.

These look good too and it's tough to beat 141 after rebate.

As mentioned, get some good quality RAM and you'll be set.  The price will be a bit stiff due to the market shift but you should still get some okay deals if you weigh in your options right.

Grab anything from OCZ, Patriot, Corsair, Mushkin, or Crucial, since they have continously provide good memory in order to suit anyone's need.  The speed you're aiming for is DDR-400 or PC3200 at the minimum.  Memory timings however will vary between all 4 companies.  The fastest PC3200 memory isn't necessary... but many will vouche for 2GB being the best investment for BF2 playing.

If you factor in overclocking, I suggest trying to get the higher speed grades in an attempt to get better memory timings off of them.  Try to settle for a balance between price and speed and you'll be able to get a good ballbark area of how far you can push the system.

*ToRRo*cT| I'll respond to your personal message here,

Glad you didn't take my statement that your memory was crap as a personal attack. :-)

It's just not that good (cas 3 at 200 MHz or cas 2 at 133Mhz)... don't worry about the overclocking yet you don't have the memory to support it. Your "crashing to DOS" isn't really crashing to DOS, you simply set something on the computer beyond the allowable limits and the computer decided to set you back to the BIOS (not-dos) to change your over agressive overclock back to something reasonable.

Before you do anything else get 2G of memory the ones I pointed out are good, seconded by sixshot I believe (he knows his stuff as well).

Get teh memory first and lets take it from there.

The graphics card is your second worst one the 5700LE leaves much to be desired. But in anycase even if you had a really good memory card you probably wouldn't be doing that well b/c the memory would be holding you back considerably.

Glad you took the time to read my sticky.
