I doubt it's the hard drive. I just had a computer doing that same thing, turned out to be the motherboard. I swapped out RAM and hard drives, no luck. Also ran checkdisk, etc. It could be video, but on this model, it's integrated. Check for swollen or popped capacitors.

Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
