Alter the Pointless Ranks

The Master Sergeant and Master Gunnery Sergeant ranks are pointless. The secondary requirements to get the next rank up for each (First Sergeant and Sergeant Major) are so easy, many players have them taken care of by the time they have 5,000 points, much less 20,000 or 50,000.

They should just change them to this:

Gunnery Sergeant: 10,000 points needed
Master Sergeant: 20,000 points needed
First Sergeant: 35,000 points needed
Master Gunnery Sergeant: 50,000 points needed
Sergeant Major: 100,000

If anything maybe for Sergeant Major or for Officer ranks require some Veteran Badges.

Not that this type of change would happen. I am curious to see how they work the officer ranks. The gap from Sergeant Major to 2nd Lt is insane right now (150,000 point gap) and is going to make for a massive amount of Sergeant Majors in the upcoming months.

SgtMjr of the Corps certainly only one as it still is announced as an unique rank for only one person for a month. But I´m quite sure that we will see some 2nd Lts till the end of the year.

Sure the required awards are really easy to get if you are trying to get them, but there are LOTS of people who are complaining about not getting to Master Sergeant because they didn't know about having all the badges, or because they got a veteran badge before a basic (though this might be fixed now...)

It still seems to be a viable way to distinguish those people who have invested time into trying to achieve all the awards and those who have just spent their time gaining rank.

I've said this in about two other threads now regarding the comments on how Second Lieutenant is so distant from Sergeant Major. 200,000 is disproportionate because it's not really supposed to be a feasibly attainable rank yet. Of course, with the people sharing accounts and stat-padding, there will always be folks shooting for the stars.

In all likelihood, the requirement will come down, just as it did for the enlisted ranks in 1.03. The stat-padders in a race to their butter-bar will hit the promotion and enjoy it for a month or so before the next patch lowers Second Lieutenant down to 90,000 or 120,000 or something like that.

This is just personal speculation, of course, but since EA has proven themselves willing to adjust rank requirements, there's no reason not to think it won't ever happen again.

Very good point (I apologize for not finding your other posts). Obviously they will have to add more higher ranks, and I think you're right about them balancing/adjusting the ranks. I guess since thier estimates on what is a reasonable amount of points and hours of gameplay to get awards was so far off, that we're all test monkies now.
