No error message is displayed. BF2 just exits to the Windows Desktop.

I did look in the event log as you suggested. There in fact was an error logged after EACH of the crashes, but it was not in the Application Log, it was in the System Log:

------------
TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
------------

After looking up this message, it was suggested that there may be a virus or spyware on my computer. My computer is clean.

So, I am wondering if BF2 has a problem sometimes if it can not contact the EA Server. If tries and tries and thus crashes... Just a thought... Being a programmer myself, I know that Socket communications can be quite tricky. Maybe the program has issues with a sporadic Internet connetion and crashes?
I get the same one everytime mine crashes.

Um, no. Do not end all processes like that. Before you shut down a process, check it out at http://www.processlibrary.com/ to make sure it isn't something that's going to cause you to slow down or crash if you kill it.
If it is a "user process", it's not essential for the system, hence "system processes". Explorer.exe and, obviously, taskmngr.exe are needed. Like I was saying, don't end any processes that have to do with your video card (or sound for that matter), but the rest are just taking up valuable RAM space and all can be turned off automaticly with mscnfg. If you don't believe me, READ THE MANUAL THAT CAME WITH THE GAME> It will tell you to do the same thing.

Of course, if you have a UPS, you'd better not shut down the "optional" monitoring process. If you have 1GB of memory, 5MB of usage isn't going to make much difference. Shutting down your browser will probably see the best results. Firefox, for example, can take anywhere up to 25-500MB at any one time.
