Hi all... Not sure what to do here to fix this problem so maybe one of you guys can help...

Been playing BF2 for a few years now running windows XP and then Vista. Just upgraded my computer to windows 7 home premium in 64bit format.

Now when i try to play BF2 it keeps kicking me after a minute or so with this reason "pnkbstrb.exe initialization failed "

I tried unistalling the game and reinstalling the game and then reinstalled both patches in order and also did a manual update of punkbuster but it is still booting me.

I also right clicked on my BF2 icon and had it run in compatible mode to XP with service pak3 but still booting me.

Any idea what is causing this and or a fix for this?

Thanks in advance!

The BF2 disc will not install the current version of the punkbuster services on your machine (obviously, it's from 2005!).
PBSetup does not install the pnkbstra & B services on your machine (at least, it didn't for me).
Run PBSVC.exe ( http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe ) from the Evenbalance site. This installs the services. Then verify that the services are running in the task manager. Then download and run PBSetup.  Then play.

If the services are running and you are still getting kicked with punkbuster communications failures, look to see if you have Windows Firewall running, and temporarily disable it. If it runs fine after that, look for instructions on how to set the firewall to not interfere with Punkbuster.

After it is running OK, minimize Punkbuster's bandwidth overhead by following this procedure: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?pid=899015#p899015
