Mmmm, well if you want a lot more flexibility and control in the image making process then yeah, a DSLR would be good. Note that just having a DSLR doesn't equate to good pictures - it'll require a certain period of learning about pre-visualising your photos, exposure and post processing techniques before you are consistently getting awesome shots. I've gone back and looked at early photos of mine. Literally thousands of simply crap photos - but if you are willing to experiment and take constructive criticism then you'll be fine in no time.TPM-J45P3R- wrote:

Note that it might also require a little investment in Photoshop/Lightroom (although one can "obtain" those with relative ease), and also eventually buying an external hard drive to store the thousands of pics you might take

Ive been havin a look round, window shopping an all that, came across what 'looks' to be a good camera.. but what do I know!? the reviews on it seem ok, as do the test shots.
Its a good one, if it werent shaky, out of focus.... and a lampost in the way!mcminty wrote:

Was thinking, have you looked at Pentax? My Dad owns a K10D, and a slightly better Pentax, both are superb, can't fault them, you might wanna have a look into them.
So i bought a camera in the end, didnt get nothing fancy.
I got a Fujifilm S1730, its 12MP and got a 15x Optical Zoom, which I quite like
^ taken with phone camera.
So i popped down the airport earlier to take a few pics, I was not impressed that they have made nearly all the fences so u cant see through! never used to be like it!
Managed to get a half-good shot, full zoom aswell!
At least now I can try and improve my shooting!
