Sh1fty in the US it's mostly people who've been in the country for a while who throw the race card around. Call me racist but I find that African immigrants (like, not even first generation in the US. Just coming from Africa to make a better life) are usually the hardest working and the nicest. They don't have some sort of grudge against the government and white people because of slavery. Heck I even remember this one cabbie who told me that he thought it was funny how African Americans complain about racism and slavery when they have not suffered like their ancestors have, and will never suffer like many people in his home country currently suffer.

So yah, if its racist but for a positve purpose then its O'Tah... Whatever dude.

Even if it is OK, was it necessary? was it  necessary to subject children to that? and say its OK...definitely not.
This type of shit is long past what is acceptable.
But then again the US doesn't have a racism problem, phhht whatever, pictures and info sharing on the internet will save us yet.

Number 1 that's not a cartoon, and number 2 I really don't think it was targeted to make a child feel bad?
What if it was a white homeless person, do you think the black kid would be asking all the white kids if it's their father? Or do you think the white kids would do that to each other?
What is a racism problem? Is it white people keeping black people down? Is it spanish people bashing other spanish? The U.S. has a racist problem in relation to what other country.

Human nature dictates that we try to find others like ourselves to fit in so the whole Racism thing is bullshit..

That pic is about as racist as it gets. Seriously, it's indefensible.

False. When Spain still owned Florida white protestant men were all called (derogatorily) "Quáqueros". This was picked up by their black slaves and was mispronounced crackers. So, to call someone a cracker, you are really calling them a Quaker which was the Floridian Spanish word for white protestants at the time. Has nothing to do with whips or anything else.

It's a picture of a black guy, does that also mean a picture of a black family eating watermellon is raciest?

No, it's a picture of a black family eating watermelon. If you're using that picture to say that all black families eat watermelon then it is stereotyping but not racist. If you're using the picture to say that people should not eat watermelon because it is enjoyed by black families then it is racist.

You want to rationalize crap like that picture go ahead and try. Sounds like you want to accept racism as being natural... so does that mean that you are naturally a racist.

But, seriously, as far as the placement of the US on the racism contintuum with other coutnries, who says that we can't be better even if we are better than some other countries. being civil to one another won't be won by a race to the bottom. Anyway just because you want to accept this behavior as being natural doesn't mean we have to follow your lead.

Do you think that guy knows that a picture of his face is considered racist?

I'm not condoning racism, I just don't think it's a real thing. People who do think it's a real thing are in fact racist, trying for equality means that you actually want to be equal not given benefits for something that you can't control.

Same thing with sexism, women want to have equal rights as men in the work place but then expect different rules because they are women.

That's the most illogical thing I've seen written on these boards. Congratulations.

If I told a black man that I would not hire him for a job because he was black what would you call it?

See actually not hiring a man for a job because he was black is racist.. That's why I'm for equal rights, I just don't think alot of things that get a racist card pulled on it is actually racist..

What's illogical?

TRUE.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florida_cracker

The Florida "cowhunter" or "cracker cowboy" of the 19th and early 20th centuries was distinct from the Spanish vaquero and the Western cowboy. Florida cowboys did not use lassos to herd or capture cattle. Their primary tools were bullwhips and dogs. Florida cattle and horses were small. The "cracker cow", also known as the "native cow", or "scrub cow" averaged about 600 pounds, had large horns and large feet.[2]

Then the company would be doing a piss poor job of hiring and would probably go under. I happen to agree that affirmative action is completely flawed but to say that racism does not exist or is not a real issue is silly. In our neck of the woods it's not really an issue but if you saw Hometown: Newark on a job application that you were reviewing would you not have automatic assumptions about the person? Poor people are poor people no matter the color of their skin and the best way for them to get ahead and get out is to move away from everything that could bring them down. If you saw Hoboken on the job app instead of Newark your assumptions would change completely and you'd be far more likely to hire the person, right? IMO, as much as it may suck, people looking for a job need to make themselves more presentable to employers on their own, before they apply, and they won't need stupid shit like affirmative action to help them along.

Aren't' these things actually racist? They're created for the advancement of a certain Race and neglect all other races, it's just simply Politically Correct bullshit that is not actually for the advancement of anyone. If we actually focused on the issues that really matter, better education in poor neighborhood, we'd get further along then saying that this person didn't hire this person cause of their color.

"the Greeks do not describe themselves as "white people"—or as anything else because they had no regular word in their color vocabulary for themselves—and we can see that the concept of a distinct 'white race' was not present in the ancient world.

With the amount of government corruption and benefits if they have a more "diverse" group, then yes it is for statistical benefits.

You're the expert I guess ... but you should consider reading The Black Swan and/or Fooled by randomness by Nassim Nicholas Taleb.

Would just like to add that thus more you segregate the populace the less trust you get both between the populace and the government and between the populace itself, less trust means that you get more unrest and more unrest is economically catastrophic in the long run ...

Just saying ... it's good for business, good for the country, good for you and good for me ...
