How is FiOS btw?

I really want to get fiber optic once I move into my own place, and it seems like the most popular brand/package/whatever, especially if it's got the tv and phone covered as well.

You know what really pisses me off? Fibre optic cable being placed 3 meters away from my house and ready for use but the ISP doesn't offer it here yet. And a 50mb/s connection only costs 40€. Fuck em...

Great. I have TV & internet. I haven't had an outage in the 2 years I've had it. Cheaper than cable too.

The UK is probably like, somewhere around the bottom when it comes to laying down fibre and generally improving infrastructure in any form or manner

The Government has its typical Socialist agenda for the future of internets in the UK. Instead of going ahead with just improving the infrastructure and laying down fibre etc.. it wants to ensure that everyone in the UK gets at least a 2Mbit connection or some shit.

I was just helping my parents clear a spot in the basement for the new TV they bought and came across the receipt for the old 29" CRT television ($918) and VCR ($549).

Especially if someone has checked in awhile. I went a couple months without paying attention. Then, one day, I picked up a local flyer and nearly shat brix.

Just put together the Samsung 2233RZ.

Wow the brightness is whole new level with this monitor. With T220 I had 70% brightness and it was nice but I think I have to town it down to under 50% in my dark room.  At 100 brightness and 80% contrast this monitor would burn my eyes in no time in dark room.

Imagine Canada had anything close to fibre

It seems the Commonwealth sucks for internet: UK, Canada, Australia, etc

Wood screws, 1.7%, etc.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I spy dual 8pin PCIe power connectors. Finally a good use for my 1KW PSU.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck

today my shure earphones died. well, the right-earbud did. it now only produces a tiiiiny amount of sound, so i know the cable-soldering hasn't gone (which is fairly robust on shures anyway, as you'd expect), it seems the actual speaker component is somehow kaputt. goddamn annoying! really can't afford £200 for another pair of earphones right now. have sent an email to shure's warranty services about it but i really doubt i'll have much luck, considering my only form of 'receipt' is an email receipt provided by amazon 12+months ago. they have a 2yr warranty, though...

RIP RIP RIP

used them everyday for like 18mnths :'( best pair of earphones i have ever had

There's been plans put in for a £>million project to make Dundee one of the first fully Fiber-optic cities in Britain.

I think it is 8 and 6 pin.

Bah, 5970 is tempting too.
