Just put together a custom computer - loaded windows xp, and the only thing that seems to be a problem for me is finding the hard drives.  I partitioned the main drive into 40gb chunks.  the other I left alone at 80g.  In my device manager, both are visible and running properly.  But under my computer, only one partition of the drive I partitioned is there (c.  Can't see the other partition or the other drive?!?!?

right click my computer - select manage
in the left hand column select storage and then disk management
the details of all installed and recognised hdd's should appear on the right now, you may need to format the missing drives and set drive letters or something, if it appears there's nothing wrong with them and you have no data on them, then try deleting the partitions on them and recreating then formatting....

provided the drives are installed properly and show ok in device manager you should be able to configure them in disk management....

hope this helps!

What Stevio said. This is also a common problem with USB drives, and these steps take care of those issues. However, you may not be able to complete a full format with disk management. It's a bit buggy.

I will try that tonight.

I did notice that in my BIOS, it naturally picked my other HD as the priority initially - but I switched them and it seemed ok.  Just wondering if it picked the other HD because of the physical SATA port it was plugged into on the motherboard?  I have 4 ports and used 2 - but didn't think it mattered where I plugged each one on on the mobo.  Also - when I installed windows xp, it found both drives - I partitioned one, and left one alone....and it seemed like it was ok.....

Hoping I don't have to reformat the disk that am able to find.....(or find HALF of).

Thanks,

Stevio - that worked - I found them - they were there, just not formatted.  In Windows, for some reason it was not letting me simply format them, but it let me partition them instead - which I did at the full amount of storage - so I really didn;t partition them, but was able to format them, assign a letter etc. anyway.  Thanks again for the help.  Now if I could only get BF2 and SF to install I would be all set!!

Thanks,
