cKy - Carver City: 6.5/10
It's a decent rock album that sounds just like cKy, in both good and bad. There's really nothing extremely special about it. But there's always been something about the band that makes one like it a lot, become a fan even. You just can't pinpoint why. I'm one of those people. Even if the songs are often boring as fuck and mindbogglingly repetitive.

I need around tree fiddy.
Over 25 years old, yet still sounds like the cold, distant future. I can remember listening to this ever since I was a young child, so every time it comes on, I get a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
It's disappointing to come across remixes of this and find that in an attempt to make a tribute to Kraftwerk, they wind up destroying the song's perfection. A few years ago I even heard a rap/pop song that sampled the "bowwwwwww.. eeeee--uhhhh" sound in the middle. Sampling is great and all, but not when it's for a shitty radio song that listeners won't even know where it came from and can't appreciate it
They're so stiff, they're funky.

maximum love and respect to kratwerk
i'm on a major The Hold Steady binge lately... it's the best drinking/sobering music. ever. whenever we have a small gathering with a few beers or a few bottles of wine, we always bring out The Hold Steady. the song-writing is stellar - such good story telling! pretty straight-forward, indie-rock music, well written and evocative. what's not to like? simple pleasures.
excuse the aesthetic and middle-agedness. i actually kinda like that. it's just honest and sincere music with incredible story-telling.

I don't care how you get this album, just do it and listen to it. nostalgic blissed out good vibes.
very similar to: boards of canada (has worked with them), aphex twin, various ambient/IDM.

However sweet GY!BE are, they are entirely different GIAA or EITS or TWDY. The genre is technically the same, but the music is entirely different, and tastes differ.Uzique wrote:

A Silver Mt Zion is also awesome, but still not the same.
fuck yea Goa Trance.
i ain't trolling you, but my opinion of that music is that it is total shitbox. i listen to a broad range of music and to a degree i'm open to anything but that is not my thing.Tankbuster=44= wrote:

True, but a lot of people like it sober, or like me, stoned.
