So why the emphasis on AIDS which only affects 20 million people worldwide and Not Hep C which affects around 300 million people worldwide?

Do you think because AIDS seems to be a major problem in the homosexual community and in Africa that it is mostly idol worship or guilt which drives the concern for people with AIDS which are a much smaller group than the Hep C suffers?

Before anyone bitches about the title, it was more simple to put that than some long bullshit.

I would not fuck Pam Anderson.
I would not screw her in a car.
I would not take her home from a bar.
I would not screw her with a pole.
I would not screw her with your prick.
I would not touch that hole.

wtf does hepatitis C even do? See I think that's part of the problem. Everyone knows what HIV/AIDS does, but hepatitis C just sounds like some sort of mad science experiment.

Steven Tyler:

Musician and songwriter in the rock band Aerosmith. In September 2006, he announced that he had been diagnosed three years previous and had just completed eleven months of treatment with interferon.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interferon#Diseases

Both hepatitis B and hepatitis C are treated with IFN-α, often in combination with other antiviral drugs.[19][20] Those treated with interferon have a sustained virological response and can eliminate hepatitis virus. Biopsies show reductions in liver damage and cirrhosis. Some evidence shows giving interferon immediately following infection can prevent chronic hepatitis C, although diagnosis early in infection is difficult since physical symptoms are sparse in early hepatitis C infection. Control of chronic hepatitis C by IFN is associated with reduced hepatocellular carcinoma.[21]

I hate learning about diseases and shit, this is why I hated doing Biology, our teacher used to always go off on a tangent about xyz diseases all the fucking time and all it does is make you paranoid about shit.

On a slightly related note, Wiki have an article for fisting... haha.. fuck sake.

lol yeah, I have a cold right now, my roommate and RA told me it was Pig AIDS, so I get escorted to the medical center, where they make me wear an uncomfortable and faggy looking surgical mask. They then usher me into this gymnasium-like room that seems to have some sort of decontamination center set up in it, where there are other guys with masks on and pissed looks on the part of their face I could see. Then the only real doctor on campus pulls me aside and we go into a real room. He tells me to remove the faggy mask, takes my temperature, asks me a few questions, tells me to buy tissues and sends me off.

So yeah, disease isn't something you should worry to much about.

Holy shit I laughed at the "Gallery of fisting hand positions" but this topped it:

"Latex gloves can be used to prevent sexually transmitted diseases and prevent foreign bodies from getting 'lost' internally."

you want a few weird ones?

stone man syndrome. Turns all your muscle into bone.
necrotizing fasciitis. streptococcus bacteria (usually fairly harmless) somehow go bad and start eating you from inside out

There is no immunization against the Hepatitis C virus.

Well for one, AIDS usually means definite death, while Hep C, which mainly causes liver damage, offers a chance of survival.  You can take a part of someone's liver, and it can become a working liver for the new body.

AIDS - Dying of pneumonia, failure of organs, etc.

Hep C - Dying of a failed transplant, or lack of time to get the liver repaired.  The liver is amazing, and has a very viable potential to be regenerated or saved.

Huge difference between Hep C and AIDS.

A and B are not remotely comparable to C.

In short it just fucks up your liver. If you mix it with alcohol (abuse) it goes thrice as fast.

Two of my dad's mates had C, both from sustance abuse in Vietnam during the war. One was on heroin the other had been a Lt. in the Southern nationalist army, meaning a lot of time spend in the jungle under high stress with morfine readily available.

The latter is on medication and will remain so for the remainder of his life, the other died a couple of years ago. When he was dying he asked for his youngest daughter, but they didn't bring her in because it wasn't exactly a pretty sight for a seven year old. In good Vietnamese tradition a completely over the top party is given each year on the anniversary of his death. My father always falls silent at some point though and I too miss the guy; he always used to be thé man on these kind of parties, getting out his guitar and singing French chansons.

Anyhow, in either case they somehow didn't transmit the dissease to their wives, which might explain why less attention is given to Hepatitis C than to Aids.

It's like drinking yourself to death only it fucks up the liver quicker.
