i wonder if anyone can help me out here, often within 10-15 seconds of joining a multiplayer server i get booted back to the server list and get a message saying "Your connection to the server has been lost" or something. What the hell is going on its really annoying, sometimes i can play without a problem and sometimes i end up getting booted with this message displaying. it does matter which server i go to either

Anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

I dont know if your problem still exists but I had the same one. I have tried a lot of things. Updating punkbuster manually, altering network card settings, opening ports on firewall, etc. All these things i found after an hour or so of googling. Nothing helped.

But then i (accidentally) stumbled across a post on a forum somewhere. It seems that some people who are having a dual core processor or a processor with hyperthreading (which is basically also two processors) could have some troubles with BF2. So for the hyperthreading issue you can simply turn it off in BIOS settings. For the dual core AMD's there's a tool i have which lauches battlefield 2 and disables one core/processor during that time. so it will only run on only one processor (but trust me that's more then enough). Since i have been using it no more disconnect problems. If you want it i can post it here for you to download.

I have tried turning off hyperthreading on my DELL XPS Gen 2 machine and it did not work.
Still says "There is a problem with your connection" after inside the game for about 5 seconds.
It then exits to the multiplayer menu and says "Your connection to the server has been lost".
Every single time I try to connect to any server it does this...
Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....
