The International Crime Court is a bureaucratic non-Dutch institution to deal with armchair mass murderers. It can not be compared to the Dutch justice system. The Dutch justice system focusses on the "treatment" of the offender and his or her reintegration into society, in doing so over the years, they've come to completely ignore their moral and practical obligations to the victim as well as the protection of other members of society.

Gang rapes were a new trend a couple of years ago amongst adolescent boys of presumably extremely low intelligence and poor or no moral education (often of Caribean background). Victims tended to be young girls that had often displayed "liberal sexuality" before. As such the argument went that these boys could not distinguish between legal sex and rape. In other words, the boys were seen as "victims" and part of the responsibility was shifted to the girl. The one day course sentence is therefore often favoured over jailtime, because the problem can be fixed by treating the offenders for being morally impaired. Apparently this can be done in one day and after that the boys no longer prove any threat to society. The girl has to do with limited psychological support, because she was a slut anyway and provoked the poor ignorant  black guys.

This is of course complete and utter bullshit.

I agree with you 100%, which is at least one of the reasons I left the country. I decided to do an MA in Ireland and though I might not settle here permanently, I am not going back either.

Hell yes all those bystanders should be charged with obstruction of justice and accomplice to rape.

The reason that many of the bystanders did nothing is that they were probably hoping to get a piece of the action.

were you? I'm not saying I think they're guilty because they're minorities, I'm saying I think they're guilty because more often than not, a rape accusation is not made up. Obviously they should be put through trial etc but if I had to place a bet, I'd bet on guilty.

@USM, as for the white devil thing, it's because the best defense a minority can use is "she's only accusing us of rape because we're minorities and she's ashamed!" or "they arrested us just because we're brown!". If the defendants were white, it'd probably be "she was asking for it" or "she wanted to and changed her mind." Typical stuff that's sometimes actually true, but usually bullshit to try and get out of being served justice.

Sounds like teenagers to me, the term "bystander" isn't really correct here, these people are linked to the suspects and the victim, not random people on the street.

Does that matter?
