I was playing SF and then my comp froze and this really weird sound came outta my speakers. I turned off my comp, and its started up but the screen stays black and the start up noises arnt there. I unplugged it to check all the connections and then plugged it back in but now it wont start at all but i have proof the mobo is getting power(ethernet cable plug lights up). Nothing looks wrong but it just wont start. I ran BF2 and BF2SF on medium.

My specs:
AMD ATHLON XP 2700+
300W ANTEC PS
RADEON 9550 AGP 8X
1GB RAM
EPOX MOBO
SONY DVD/CD DRIVE
SB LIVE SOUND CARD
Everything runs cool normally, and all cards had latest drivers , and i never had a problem with this befor can you help me?

If your mobo has a POST checkpoint onboard (should display hex numbers), check it to make sure it is going anywhere.
Also, you can download a BIOS recovery image and try updating the BIOS.  Probably won't help, but worth a try.
If you have more than one memory stick, try removing one then the other to see if it is a bad stick.
Can't think of anything else right now if you have already disconnected everything...

mobo may be getting power, but may not be working

it is either your:

monitor, mobo or vga card is dead. or cpu and ram...

if nothing else works, make sure you have a system speaker, for some reason some dont or arent hooked up
anyways, take everything out, cpu ram, everything

and start up your computer, does your mother board beep? if so the beeps it gives are errors, and means its probably working just fine, depending on your bios and mobo, the errors will be different

now put your cpu in, start it up. same error or different? if its different continue on to put your ram in
repeat the process till you get to your vga

again depending on your bios or mobo, it may or may not beep if you have a vga installed or not

but granted you got this far with no errors and seeing how your screen stays black, my guess is your your card crapped out, have you tried another card -no matter how crappy- in your system yet?

if it works then yar your cards is crap, just to be safe, try supposed crapped card in another system
assuming you have another system to try this all on
