BF2S Forums HELP!! on upgrades?

First off, you may want to decode those for easier reading.

Looks like you've got a P4 3.06 with 512MB, I can't see anything about a video card.

I'd recommend at least a gig or 2 of faster ram.  Yours is only PC2700. 

The ram will make up for a lot of it.  I'd also recommend nuking the factory DELL install of Windows Home and go for Windows XP Pro. This will help by destroying all of the factory programs and then they won't load up and hog  your memory.   

More memory will help definately when attempting BF2.

i would say my price range would be from 100 or about 600 dollars anywhere in between that i can do

You want to serious speed for your $?  Your system is probably AGP, so you'll end up paying more for a good video card.
keep your computer how it is and give or sell it to family or friends...
Build yourself a new system.  You can then go as extreme or as moderate as you like.  One word, Opteron.

While I myself prefer the current ATi products at this time, probably the best AGP card currently available is the nVidia 7800GS.

Since you don't appear to be an overclocker, something like this will suffice for the RAM.

If you're more of a tinkerer like me here's the list of parts if I were going to build it for you:
**amd Opteron (146 is a good cheap start if you want single core, 165 is a reasonable dual) check fatwallet for coupons on opterons at monarch computers
**DFI lanparty "ultra D" (really just about any nfoce 4 chipset board will work fine, I have an ECS SLI lite)
**2 gig kit of DDR500 (matched pair, so 2 1 gig sticks)
**7800GT (pick, or price shop)

the rest is just fluf... case, DVD, HDD, etc.  Sure you can get a 10k rpm drive, or 2 and raid 0 them, but I see HDDs as a "disposable" part of a computer.  Look for quality, not speed.  I like the seagate drives and I'd recommend a seagate SATA drive in whatever size you like.  If you don't have an XP CD that's already SP 2 you'll need one.

If your not opposed to buying AMD I'd start out with 2G of DDR for your current system, a 150G raptor. Then see how you do with that, you can of course transfer those purchases to a new machine.

x800's and x850pro's and a few nvidia's are pretty cheap used. you may want to consider that.

Rename your sticky to something relevant to computer hardware and tweaking.
