Did you miss Kennedy's speech in Berlin or Bill Clinton's visit to Belfast or something?

Thats funny, I DO RECALL the Obama/ European love affair you are denying now. That is equally as puzzling.
We loved Mr. [Insert Non-Republican]. Sheesh. Empathise for once. What special traits did he have that were so appealing to us? He had most of the same manifesto as Hilldog.
yet you did not encourage or welcome Hillary, or any other candidate. Cam you are so full of shit regarding Europes love of Obama. But then again this coming from a guy who claims their are only a "few" Muslims in Europe.

Hillary is in Dublin today as we speak and will probably get a raucous reception when she visits Belfast tomorrow for all of her and her husband's efforts on the Northern Ireland peace process, as she has done in the past. You know shit about Europe. Your ridiculous fawning after you visited Germany was the ultimate illustration of naivety, insularity and retardedness.

I'm pretty sure that didn't happen when Obama came to town either... superlatives much...? lowing's mind must be like some kind of twilight zone.

yeah, let me know if it is just another event, or Michael Jackson type welcome such as the one Obama got.

As my trip to Germany went. I reported my experiences and nothing more.

Well last time they turned up in Belfast they were greeted by tens of thousands of cheering locals with little American flags. Last time Bush was here they had to cordon off the area to prevent large groups of protestors getting anywhere near the venue for his speech....

So what do you do? When there is no good option you must take the lesser of the two evils. That is logic. Not voting is what is stupid.

voting for someone you dont like or agree with is stupid.  that diminishes the power of the vote imo.

In the Irish context I will probably vote independent next time, an independent that is unlikely to go into coalition with the party I dislike the most. In the American context I wouldn't bother voting for a third party because I might end up being governed by people I intensely despise. Once a third party over there grew a pair of balls I'd probably change my ways.

Not true at all.

If you prefer one side to the other, you vote for the side you prefer. That doesn't mean you agree with them, you just disagree less.

Not voting in that sort of situation diminishes the power of the vote.

There certainly is a real answer, and I've just given you it.

Just because it's your opinion doesn't make it so.

Voter apathy in all forms diminishes the power of the vote.

So, Europe does not care about or love Obama, (no proof of that), they just hate Bush. THis is the story you wanna stick with?

You can't really blame people for not voting if the parties are too incompetent to actually have a policy platform that actually makes people want to vote.

IE. I don't think you can blame the surely low turnouts in next year's UK general election on 'voter apathy'.
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

What do party lines have to do with any of this?

It's common sense. You vote for what you prefer. The only time it would make sense not to vote is if you liked/hated each faction equally.

We do care about Obama, in that he is the President of a powerful and influential country, but we aren't stupid enough to believe that he is better than any other politician. And yes we hate Bush with an unfathomable level of loathing.
