my DSP 500 is toast!

Well, last night I accidentally yanked the cord running from the volume control to the headset out of the volume control on my DSP500. Damn Plantronics! They need to reinforce that shit better so it isn't so easy to mess up.
Anyway, I was thinking about getting a Sennheiser PC155 as a replacement. Pretty much all of the reviews I've read have been good. Anybody else used this headset (or any other USB headsets that they could recommend)?

I use a Logitech USB mic and a pair of AKG K271 Studio Monitor Headphones (aka Harman Kardon) which kick the arse out of any Plantronics POS, the mic stays on the desk and you won't forget that you've got the headphones on so no mullered cables!

Yeah they don't make those cables like they should. I did the same thing to my DSP-500s and so have several of my friends. What you could do is open up the inline volume controller and solder the connections back in. Thats what I had to do.

I had already done that once when a single wire got pulled loose. This time, the part of the cable that anchors it to the volume control unit got ripped off the cable.

I decided to buy the Sennheisers as an early birthday present. I like them. I don't know that they sound better than the Plantronics, but they are more comfortable, and if I decide to shell out the cash for an X-Fi, I can still use these.

A cheap fix for the 500 is the lower one the Audio 90 i havent seen a big difference in the two really did the same thing to my 500.

Yeah thats not all that difficult to fix. I work for a headset company and I repair those DSP-500s all the time. If you still want to repair that headset I could take a picture of the wiring for the inside of the inline volume control so you can solder everything back.
