Bumping this again. Still got no decent suggestions from you guys.

After reading up reviews on the Asus, I have decided not to touch it with a bargepole.

Now, the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 looks like quite some monitor, don't know if the price is justified though.

Any thoughts?

LG L246WH

24", 1920x1200, has HDMI and component connectors, is also capable of displaying images 1:1 (in case the video being put in is not 1920x1200, the image is not distorted).
Very good monitor, I'm happy with it.

Just looked at the Asus 24" on Newegg.

Pros: Great color, bright and no dead pixels. The monitor is stylish and looks great on my desk. The color is excellent.. once fined tuned that is. Easy set up, easy controls.. Quality to price ratio is INSANE!! I also love the different display modes, which are all customizable. Switch to night mode where the brightness is low and comfortable, switch to movie mode where the colors pop and black is true black.. switch to DVI mode to see everything pixel perfect.

Package arrived 3 days after I ordered it and took about 10 mins to unpack and set up.
Cons: The stand. Not that big of a deal, but there is no way to raise the height. If it's that big of a concern.. order a new stand.

The stickers on the face of the display left some glue after I peeled em off. Had to bust out alcohol and cotton balls to remove. only a slight annoyance.
Other Thoughts: I've been a graphic designer for 18 years and this is by far the best color and detail I've had in a monitor. I've literally spent thousands of dollars on displays. And this monitor kills them all. Yes even Apples garbage. Don't waste your hard earned $$ on anything else. This is a great buy!
Pros: This monitor is absolutely astounding. I went from a 19" monitor to this, and couldn't be happier. 1080p playback quality is breathtaking! Windows Dreamscene is a perfect companion. Gaming through both the PC and my 360 are stunning. I've only had the thing a few days and I'm already noticing tiny details I've never seen in Portal and Halo. So many settings! UPS got it to me faster than expected, which is always a plus.
Cons: None so far. No dead pixels, no ghosting, no light bleed. The ONLY con was that it took me 5 minutes to get the picture the way I wanted in the menu. Ha... I don't even call that a con. Great job ASUS.
Other Thoughts: If you're the type who doesn't need a huge TV, get this monitor and plug in your HDMI from your cable and whatever output your monitor uses and you'll be hooked up with an amazing dual-use device.
They're all like these with the exception of one or two (which newegg always has on every product I've gotten from them :S). Not really sure what you've read that's bad but I figured out two weeks ago that I was going to order 2 21.5" HD monitors from them and probably a 24" too sometime soon. Everyone raves about Asus monitors.

Wow, interesting.

1,000,000:1 Dynamic contrast, 2ms and 1080p resolution. It's also super thin.... Hm....
That is because that monitor has technology that actually turns off pixels while others are on. They were just coming out with that feature when I bought my TV almost 2 years ago. It's pretty cool tbh.

get an LG, I went from a samsung 19" to a LG 23" and the difference isnt just size (thats what she said)

I get a LOT less stuck pixels with my LG than my samsung, and the contrast is a little better on my LG too

My price range has gone up. I'll gladly shell out £320 if it means a much better monitor for that price.

Dell Ultrasharps that are 24" are £550. No thank you.

MECtallica: I have no dead pixels with my current Samsung 2032BW and it's fucking fantastic, I just want Full HD and an HDMI port. It's clearly going to be between the Samsungs and LGs.

Out of interest, can I run HD off my Xbox360 through an LCD monitor like these?

I have a VGA adapter, but I'm not sure if that support HD resolution when connected up to the monitor.

Righto, major bump. I need a new monitor now.

This is what I want from it:
Full HD
HDMI port (+ VGA and DVI, of course)
At least 23"
Good contrast ratio

I'm currently looking at these two:

Anybody got other suggestions? My budget is undecided right now, but I'm sure I can push myself. Just no stupid UltraSharp suggestions. They aren't worth the money.

I hear Dell have quite good panels. Don't know myself though.

Have a look at this, it's on offer this week.

Doesn't Dell use Samsung panels? Or is it LG/Phillips panels, I forgot.

I have it and honestly my older 245B is better when it comes to image quality.

Panzer says the T220 is amazing for picture quality, I figured the bigger brother would be better (better resolution/size).

It probably is the same so? I have compared both side by side and 245B wins with its superior colour reproduction.
