I really don't understand American policy when it comes to border protection. It's all well and good to give every guy with a funny sounding name a cavity search, but then you have about 10 people guarding a 3000 mile border.

- Obama to cut 384 Border Patrol Agents on US-Mexico border
mine it.
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.
(17015 / 17399 - 1) * 100 = Holy Shit a decrease of a massive 2.2%. The Mehikans will invade us now!Easterling said on Tuesday that in fiscal 2009, 17,399 Border Patrol agents have been deployed on the U.S.-Mexico border. In fiscal year 2010, the Border Patrol plans to decrease that by 384 agents, leaving 17,015 deployed along the Mexican frontier.

I need around tree fiddy.
So it's a tiny difference, but they're stretched as it is, they should be doubling the number of agents stationed there. I agree, it doesn't really make much difference though.DonFck wrote:

But then neither did Bush, he did nothing to protect the border.JohnG@lt wrote:

Not sure how hard it would be to deal with, if the govt wanted to.

meh... wait for the amnesty
10 million new democratic voters, a porous border with new democrats running into southern republican strongholds... I can't see a down side for the dems on this one. Its just like when economic development is planned to imprve an area, the improvements aren't meant for the existing residents, its for the richy richies that move in after and displace the poor. Same thing here. easy immigration isn't for the people who are citizens already, its for businesses and in this case for the democratic party.
meh... twice
and look at where all the Obama haters are... people want to shit all over him and then expect him to do right by them... better acquire a taste for menudo. mmmmmm menudo.....
So you're ok with them drowning out the current residents here to carry elections? Next time they're looking light in an election year why not open up the border again, grant another couple million amnesty, and have them vote for the guy that did it. You really don't see that as a problem? Wow.Diesel_dyk wrote:

OK what about the tunnels we have, the issues of city's and states literally being taken over by Illegals?
Our border patrol is real effective.. They say these people do jobs Americans don't want to, but I'm pretty sure 9.8% of Americana's and all the unemployed collage students think differently.. The only real way to do away with it is to change our tax system, so if they do come they don't end up getting more benefits that a U.S. Citizen.

Immigrants will keep jumping the board until there's lame work to do. Deal with it.

You lie. There's only so much one is willing to do to pay the bills and in a college student case not even working Mickey D's.cpt.fass1 wrote:

For the amount they pay you in the states I wouldn't do half the jobs.cpt.fass1 wrote:

Yeah call me crazy but I seriously think that bringing home 200 dollars a week is way better then bringing home 0 dollars a week.. Crazy I know but something is better then nothing..
When I was 15-18 I was a life guard and one of those duty's was maintenance aka cleaning up the bathrooms(girls are really disgusting) and taking out the trash.. I think I was making 8.75 a hour doing that..

Yeah maybe, but fuck if I'm going to work 40 hours for 200 lousy bucks.
When I was 15-18 I had more important things to do like getting an education and having fun. I did have a paper run when I was younger though, it paid about $25 and took a little over an 1.5 hours to do.

You were in college at that age, huh? A life guard at the beach? 'Cause that sounds like a sweet job imo.cpt.fass1 wrote:

Looking at a Sep 22nd 2009 news release from Customs abd Border Patrol (CBP), there are 57,000 CBP employees.
"IF" the job cut is true, you have to wonder out of the 384 jobs if any will be field agents, admin, support, or contractors.

Noo the fact of the matter is, that if you need money making some money is better then making none. You don't have the right to get the job of your dreams, sitting around with a diploma crying about what job you should be doing isn't very proactive. It's not going to improve your life, have fun staying in your parents house intill you're 30.Ticia wrote:

But anyway, what they should do is pass a Castle law for the states.. Issueing a right to protect ones state, that would put a whole hell of a lot of texans at the border.
I wouldn't go that far, I should have put the /sarcasm tag after menudo.JohnG@lt wrote:

But what do you expect? GOP has practiced scorched earth on groups supporting the dems like unions and trial lawyers, that's what right to work and tort reform are really all about. In the same vein, why is the gop so against legal immigration and providing necessary workers with status. because although they want the workers for businesses, they don't want these people to vote. Work, pay your taxes and go home -kind of sounds like taxation without representation to me.
And, if legalizing these people dilutes the gop vote in the south, and gets back at Obama haters at the same time, why wouldn't the PBO do it.
so no, its not right, but meh, since when has a political party thought of anything except maintaining power. /sarcasm. Should we expect that to change anytime soon?
