Gee, ever consider I wasn't a tax payer when I was in school either? So where did you dream up that comment from then?

I am not complaining about paying taxes. I am complaining about where my tax money goes and paying too much taxes based on that. and yeah I have the right.
That is why I said my father paid YOUR way.
and the point being? since I guess I can say my dad AND I paid yours. What the hell is your point?

I notice how all of the nations that supposedly 'smoke' the US in the editorial are heavily socialised (thinly veiled CNN agenda strikes again). Why is it that the American system is apparently not functioning whereas European systems are? They don't even scratch the surface as to why.

I guess the answer lowing is driving at is that funding should be cut to schools. Because that will improve education...
Nope, I say give people a choice other than govt. education. give people vouchers from that same fund to let people educate their kids where they want, and not where the govt. wants.

Your dad didnt pay shit towards mine nor did you. My point is that there is always someone who will complain about government spending. You complain a lot about government spending. Yet, you yourself could be the person being the "leach" in someone elses complaint. Your complaint has nothing to do with healthcare, rather more taxes you might have to pay for someone else to get what you have the luxury of having.

Here is a good analogy that fits a little more in line with healthcare then your test that most of the students who took it blew off. How is the government being in charge of our roads not socialism, yet healthcare is?

Govt. is charged with maintaining the infrastructure that we ALL use. this includes roads and bridges. We dso not all use welfare. Sorry your analogy fails.

Yeah I hate it when the government steals my money. I mean, I hate all these leaches moaning for shit "oh we need roads to drive places" well maybe if you worked harder you'd be able to afford a helicopter. Pricks. Also the leaches cry about crime, well maybe they should higher their own damn cops instead of stealing my money to pay for them.

Agreed, all roads should be toll roads.
All car parks should have a meter.
You can pay by the hour for police time.
You should also have to pay to vote. $50 a time would be fair I think.

I'm confused.

lowing argues that public schooling is shit, therefore public healthcare would be shit.

Yet he, with all his staunchly 'conservative' values, is a product of that system. He did fairly well out of it, I guess maybe it's less about education and more about culture.

I'd say it has more to do with money. He wants to keep all of his. He probably has the luxury of having insurance, and sees no reason why he should have to help insure those that are uninsured. He doesn't understand that many people have no realistic way of paying for it on their own.

I don't think it has to do with money. From what I gather. Nobody has even bothered to find out if Government Healthcare would be cheaper than their current Insurance premiums. So it's got nothing to do with money. More along the lines of "I don't want the Government to hold more power, especially the Obama government, so I'm going to oppose this"

I based that on the fact that he called it "welfare". Lowing does not seem like the type to find out if it would cost him more.Just like he didn't bother to think about the analogy in the op. He also stated that "never said reform was not needed", basically saying the government should have more control. Maybe it is somewhere in the middle. But money definitely plays a role in his thinking.

Your opinions bare little resemblance to facts.

IF you want to dig deep enough you will find, based on your opinion, that we all get paid by by the govt. then. You are reaching and there is nothing there to grasp.

like I said, I have never taken 1 penny of govt. handout. Sorry if you refuse to accept that, but it really does not matter or change the fact.

I argue that despite of govt. I did well. I argue that because the govt. can't even run a cash for clunkers program, or a postal service, or a school, that they should be trusted with managing my healthcare.

It's not how the system is now. ie change is bad.
