Don't have the time or the techinical ability to build my own.....and would rather unpack the thing, plug it in and play games instead of fidding with putting parts into a cabinet.....
Polywell seems to have a good sight, and I have talked to a couple of their tech's....just not sure how they stack up to the other OEM guys like ABS, Velocity, Falcon, Monarch...etc...

it would take a week for em to ship it. it will take 1 hour to put it all togetherTunacommy wrote:

Ninja - starting to think you are right.....I have been doing some research and am finding that it might not be all that hard to put it together myself....so, I am going to give it a shot....cyborg_ninja-117 wrote:

Not as concerned about putting the hardware together and getting the software to work.....
After I get it all together - do I set the BIOS on the board first or install the OS first? just one of those nagging questions.....have not even ordered the components yet.
u set the bios on the board first, set the cd rom to boot first, insert windows xp cd and let it installTunacommy wrote:

Make sure all your drives are installed and all the bits and pieces are in the right place. Then boot the machine up and wait for the "hit ____ to enter set up" and edit the BIOS to boot to the CD/whatever drive first.
And block a couple of hours, at least.
Yeah you can get it up and running in a hour on a "straight install" of an OS with minor tweaking. It usually takes 2-3 days of tweaking and tuning to get it running like a top.
Or do what I did, gotta love the MCSA classes HP paid for me to take. Make a DVD install disc for the OS and include all of the updates plus custom insertion of all current video and chipset drivers.
Plus you can do it as an un-attended install. Insert the disc, go watch TV and then your system is ready to go.
Cuts time down exponentially. Plus once you have that ghosted image, you're good to go for Insta-re-install.

Just ordered everything from NewEgg at lunch.....by 2:00 EVERYTHING HAD SHIPPED....I find that incredible.....should have it all in 2 days.....the only thing they were out of was the graphics card....had to order that from Tiger Direct....hope they are as good!
yea tigerdirect is a good place to order from
Just got most of the stuff from New Egg....less than 24 hours from ordering - and I didn't have to rush it or send it next day air or anything - just normal order. Just waiting for the case and card....was playing last night on my "old" system....can't WAIT to get this new one up....kept getting killed during lag - just helps to justify the $$ spent on the new one.........
