Floyd Mayweather Jr. learned to fight shortly after he learned to walk, and he needed a break from boxing. He essentially spent the past two years trying out other lives: By turns he was a television star, a pro wrestler, a playboy, a businessman, a record producer and a doting father of four.

The experience — and the money it cost to have it — only left him eager to get back his unblemished sporting life.

When Mayweather returns from a 21-month retirement to fight Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden, the fighter who nicknamed himself "Money" is certainly in it for the cash, which will be used to pay off a few IRS debts and perhaps some bills on his massive "Big Boy" mansion in the Vegas suburbs.

He won't get quite as much money after showing up to Friday's weigh-in two pounds over the 144-pound limit, which likely cost him a six-figure contract penalty. Mayweather weighed in four pounds heavier than the 142-pound Marquez, who agreed to stay in the fight for a fatter paycheck.

Though the money is important, Mayweather (39-0, 25 KOs) also seems reinvigorated by the thrill of the fight. After finishing most of his last half-dozen bouts with injured hands and weary threats of retirement, Mayweather sees himself back in boxing for several more years.

"I'm back to get what's mine," Mayweather said this week. "I've got to show everybody that what I do is still better than what everybody else does. I should be around for a while."

LAS VEGAS -- Floyd Mayweather Jr. weighed in at 146 pounds on Friday afternoon, two pounds heavier than the weight stipulated in the contract for his comeback fight against lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The excess weight will cost Mayweather $300,000 per pound, meaning Marquez will get an additional $600,000 on top of his $3.2 million guarantee, a source told ESPN.com. Mayweather's minimum guarantee is $10 million, a figure likely to dramatically increase after the pay-per-view receipts are counted.

Marquez, who has never fought heavier than 135 pounds, comfortably made 142 pounds, two less than the 144-pound contract weight.

At Mayweather's request, nobody would speak publicly about the contract weight throughout the promotion that kicked off in early May and continued into the fall when the fight was postponed from July 18 because of a Mayweather rib injury.

Boxer Floyd Money Mayweather is known for his extra special ring walks, and he will deliver another fan special when Triple H, one of the biggest names in World Wrestling Entertainment, accompanies the six-time world champ to the ring for his comeback against the five-time world champion Juan Manuel Márquez on Saturday, Sept. 19 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and live on HBO Pay-Per-View.

``Triple H is one of the greatest guys in the world and represents a whole universe of WWE fans that appreciate what he does,'' Mayweather said in a release. ``He and his stature are huge, and I can't think of a better person to escort me to the ring for my return to boxing.''

Triple H said: ``It is an honor to walk the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world back into the ring. Floyd Money Mayweather has shown WWE tremendous support, and it is my pleasure to return the favor this Saturday by standing at his side as he defeats Marquez in what I am sure will be boxing's fight of the year.''
