All to dodge the "slut" label.  So now instead of only her bf knowing she's a cheating slut -The entire popluation of news watching America knows she's a lying slut.

so... does anyone else think it's wrong that the only thing required to be arrested is for a woman to cry rape? this is an all too common problem that should really get more attention than it does

So these 5 guys now have their names and faces all over the television and internet and on record from now until the end of time. The woman of course as of now doesn't have her name or picture on TV on internet because of rape laws stopping her name from being released. So since she may have ruined these guys lives with a lie what punishment if any do you think she should receive?

a prison sentence equalling that of rape punishment. If faced with that kinda punishment people will be more apt to tell the truth and make sure they don't go to jail themselves.

No, not at all.

How else do you propose the system works? The vast majority of rapes go unreported as it is and only a small percentage of those cases ever go to trial. It should be made as easy as possible for the victims of rape to get the rapists arrested.

There should also be exceptionally harsh penalties in place for bogus rape claims - I quite like the idea of:

In Holland they have accepted a law that people can be prosecuted for sexual harassement if the victim can make it assumeable that it could have occurred. I mean, how retarded is that?

How about the 4 guys (or 3, I forget) get to rape her

Rape shield laws were put into place to make it harder for a defendant to use an accuser's sexual past against them.  While the intention is noble, it opens the door for making bogus claims harder to disprove.

I would rather err on the side of less reporting than on the side of convicting innocent people.

In most cases I would agree with this, but for rape the conviction rates are often in single figure percentages....

Honestly.. She F-d four dudes, while a dude video'd it, cried rape and then got reveled on who she is..

I'd just let the shame from the media handle it. If it gets pushed too much she'll probably end up killing her self.

What she did was wrong and the public shame is punishment enough.

My cousin did four years for rape - by cousin I mean the adopted son of the woman my uncle lives with.

He and his mate met two girls in a singles bar - she'd booked an all night baby-sitter - took them home.
In the morning said 'thanks, see ya later' she didn't like that, fight ensued and a month later he's picked up for rape.

Since he wouldn't admit anything he served the full sentence.

Even so, in this case I wouldn't suggest anything harsher than perjury, filing a false statement.
That would most likely screw her for the rest of her life, and if she ever DOES get assaulted she probably won't be believed.

What she attempted to do to those guys is (at the very least) equivalent to rape.

I don't think it's so much misogyny.  It's that, in the US legal system, it's the guy that gets raped in the courtroom.

I think it is more the fact that, in the US legal system, a male is all but helpless to defend himself against a female accusing him of rape (or any other sex crime).  Her word alone is enough to get him fired from his job, publicly condemned in the news (papers and TV), and put in jail to await trial. [Seen it happen to someone I know].

So, in the above sense, the US legal system turns the roles around.  In the US courts, the men are the ones that are the weaker sex, subject to ruination & violation by psychotics of the other sex.  Ask any guy that's been divorced, been through a child custody case, or accused of any sort of sex-related crime.

  TL;DR summary : Anyone that uses sex as a weapon, as a tool for dominance & control, or as a tool for violence of any sort .. is psychotic, and should be treated accordingly.  Male or female. Register them as a sex offender, lock them up, give them psychiatric treatment (if it'll do any good), and put them on a public list of sex offenders.
