This, tbh.

Also, it's not like anyone who disagrees with Obama is being called a racist.  It seems like you (lowing) and Jimmy Carter are kind of in the same boat here, bringing up race when it really is a non-issue.

I know your point is that people are playing the race card, but really, who cares?  Anyone with half a brain knows Carter is speaking nonsense, as is that Rep from Georgia.  Do you really need to remind us every time someone acts like an idiot?  Have fun with that.  You'll have more posts than Kmarion and marine combined by the end of the day.

no racism here, move along, nothing to see here, there is definitely no racism here

Pictures speak louder than words sometimes. But, "you lie, boy" is pretty bad too. If Joe Wilson used the word boy, then they should impeach the little prick. Talk about lack of respect for the office of the president, and to think that the GOP is always trading on their "patriotism."

Looks to me like PBO's election win scratched the thin veneer that a lot of people in the US use to hide their racism. IMO its really sad. Its better to pick the scab and live with a healed scar than leaving the wound infected. I hope these ideas of these cowardly racists are brought to the surface so they can be addressed head on, instead of this garbage shadow fighting.

So while I agree that all opposition to health care reform can not be labelled racists, there are a good number of people who have injected their racist beliefs to further their opposition and to marshall support from other racists. Those people need to be confronted and the debate should be based on the facts of the proposal.

BTW Why aren't any of the GOP members loudly condemning these protesters who hold up racists posters. Unless, of course, there is no racism here /sarcasm.

It's not. Which is lowing's point.
I bet a good deal of Obamas opponents would like to see him fail just because he is black, racism is not dead in the US and your representatives do reflect the population ... so are you really sure that non of the arguments against Obama is not racially motivated?
Just as sure as I am that the black caucus being against Bush was not racially motivated. yet you do not question their motives? why would that be?Waht about all of those pictures that compared Bush's expressions to those of a monkey, or as Hitler, where were you then with your racism bullshit?

How could comparing Bush to a monkey or Hitler be construed as racism?

It's funny how racism in america has become nothing but whites vs everyone else, usually blacks/afr. americans.

If 96% of the white population voted for McCain, the whole of America would be deemed racist for centuries to come. 96% of the black population votes for Obama and it's suddenly compensation for the running record of white US presidents.

I actually have found people who aren't politically correct at Yale. It was such an uplifting moment.

On topic, racially motivated opposition is pathetic (although I'm not a GOP apologist as you've demanded), but opposition based on dislike or disagreement with his policies is not.

Stop being an ass. There was a picture set going around a few years ago comparing Bush facial expressions to those of monkeys, he was also compared to Hitler, yet no one screamed racism. Yet disrespecting Obama or even disagreeing with him denote racism, I provided the links.

I will also say, I am about sick of people like you and your childishness, so if you wnat to have a dialog then do not continue acting like a fool.

so, you do not think Obama is monkey-shit crazy?

Then why do people compare him to Hitler? i am NOT singling you out lowing, i see Obama portraits with the little mustache, and i cannot for the life of me understand the comparison. i can say the same for Bush, a while ago - why, left or right, would anyone compare a modern president to a twentieth century genocidal dictator? Fuck the left AND the right lowing, the fringes are shrill from both sides and sheeple inhabit the middle.

i am sick of people like you lowing, who fail to see that any opinion not shared by you is wrong. i have an opinion, i did not personally attack you, and the one reason i do not hold you responsible for not allowing me my opinion is because you are constitutionally incapable of it.

The dems should let this racism issue drop until after health care reform is passed. Addressing it now will only further muddy the waters on the whole debate and add another layer on top of the lies that need debunking. And go figure, muddying the water and keeping this reform from ever getting to a vote is exactly what the anti-reform, pro-insurance crowd wants. Remember, the fight is to get health care/insurance reform passed, we don't need to try to fix America's racism problem right now, nor try to teach people acceptable public behavior. After all each and every person in America is free to embarrass them self.

Makes you wonder if this agitation is bought and paid for by the insurance lobbyists to deflect attention from the fact that reform will be a win for everyone except the insurance industry, and I think we can all agree that its OK to hate the insurance industry. I'll get the pitch forks, you get the torches and we can start with the HMOs and maybe even AIG.

Honestly...this is a ploy by the right and big industry.

The 9/12 rallies you've been hearing about is backed by Freedom Works...whose chairman is Dick Armey....whom is clearly paid off by big insurance and big oil and any of the big corporate sunsofbitches you can think of. These rallies are not meant to take down big government spending...not about socialism or Marxism or Maoism or racism or "oligarhies" (courtesy of Glenn the clown Beck). The orchestrators of these rallies are trying to take YOUR MONEY! YOU!!! YOU!!! and EVEN YOU LOWING!!! Do you really think the right wingers have your best interest in mind? They want YOUR MONEY! The more you shout about Obama being born in Kenya or being Hitler...you're mindlessly playing into their agenda to delay..and ultimate kill ANY heathcare reform that jeopardizes the monopoly of the American Heath Care system.

They're not watching your back...the right wing conservative media are simply soapboxes at the corner of the street spreading the lies about Obama being born in Kenya, supporting Nazi-ism, death panels killing Nana, providing insurance to the illegal brown people etc, in order to discredit anything that they are trying to do to fix the heath care system. All this bullshit swirling around are body blows to the attempts at changing the status quo, that is: the insurance companies' profit margins. All this bullshit swirling around is meant to further extend the insurance companies' reach to take the money you've earned out of your pockets. The sad part is....most of the conservatives are falling for it and falling in DROVES!

So, regarding the 4 years of racism...this bullshit is irrelevant. It's a mere distraction to the bigger issue...and when the LEFT starts ignoring the extreme Right's wild claims, they might...JUST might be able to pull their head out of their asses and muster out a bright idea that can benefit ALL Americans (excluding the sunsofbitches big wig CEOs).

The extent of the racism I see coming from the right is mainly from the rednecks at these rallies being misinformed and LIED to by Fox news and friends...so the actual relevancy is near nill. They just have to accept the fact that the POTUS is a black man...just the same as many of us had to accept the fact that the POTUS was a moron 8 years back.

Long story short: Liberal Dems bitching about racism is stating the obvious and nobody cares cause nobody can do ANYTHING to change the minds of the extreme rednecks.  Conserv Reps bitching about the left playing the race card should pull their heads out of their asses, cause lets face it...we are ALL racists to a certain degree, and statistically, historically, geographically, culturally, conservative reps are MORE likely to be racists; so just admit your motivation for disrespecting the the BLACK POTUS in the middle of congress, for claiming the BLACK POTUS was born in Kenya, etc. is just a TAD racially motivated.

Carter said that Joe Wilson's comment was motivated by racial politics. It's this type of assumption that people have a problem with. I don't think you're going to find anyone who says racism does not exist on any level. However, that is not to say that all dissent is racially motivated. Most right wing conservatives in the media are not saying Obama is Kenyan borne or that he is not eligible to be president, at least not the popular ones. If I'm wrong show me. There are also plenty of right wingers who are tired of the status quo and the incredible profits the insurance companies make. To assume that a differing opinion is either racist or that right wingers are not in support of Health care reform (which most are) simply because they have been fed lies by the insurance companies via fox news is crap.

I've given up on mainstream media and take whatever they present to me with a grain of salt.
True, these are examples presented are of extremists...but the extremists are the ones getting all the media coverage and that's the problem. There is no uproar from the moderates in the right to reject any of the extremists' views. Thus, many who DO watch the media accept that the right is generally THAT extreme.

I am squared away to know that the entire conservative whole does not think the way the extremists do.

There is no uproar because it's absurd, and it's not like the media would present it anyways. The same argument is made as far as Muslims. Why aren't they speaking out against the radicals etc.. Frankly (and sadly) it's not as entertaining, and so it lacks shock value.

This is not a left/right issue neither. I'm sure many righties wondered for years where the left moderates were when the extreme left was burning effigies of Bush.
