To be honest before the speech, at least what was leaked out during the weekend, looked really bad. I only think after all the hoopla over the last week about the speech 'cleaned' it up to what it became.
Left to his own devices though I know Obama wanted to indoctrinate kids (see the original version), but because of pressure pussed out (current version).

He does write some of his speeches btw. If time permits. Obama takes an unusually hands-on approach to his speech writing, more so than most politicians.
