Im not sure if this has been posted before but im pretty sure i want to throw my computer out the window.
Basically Last Christmas i upgraded my computer  from a Geforce fx5200 (crap) to the ATI card so i could run my graphics on high and such.  Right now i can bearly run it on low with this card cause anything higher my screen goes blank and the whole thing messes up.
Ive given hundreds of dollars out to the GeekSquad and other independent places and noone could find the problem.
Right now my main steps are to:
1) take it out and try it in another computer
2) if its messed up in the other computer send it back to ati for repair
3)  if it isnt messed up on the other computer it means its something else in my computer thats broken and im screwed
4) attempt to find out what it is
5) fail
6) throw it all out the window and start over.

System specs:
amd athlon 64 3400+
ati radeon x850 pro
500w vortec psu by XG
2x 512 Ram

Anyone have any insight on this or some other threads about this?

yea on official bf2 home page, there is a community update about patch 1.21 and it says that it fixes performance issues on certain ati cards...so dont throw it out the window yet.

My brother's video card ati radeon 9000 didnt even work after 1.2, so he bought the same card an x850.  it is new in box, so if 1.21 fixes it he will sell it.

but anyway, hope that helps

ps-if you wanna throw it out the window you can mail it to me instead, i could use a new one.....

yea ive heard that its bf2s compatability problems but i know for a fact it isn't

because:
1)friend of mine has a duplicate system as mine and his works fine
2) i dont just get the problem on bf2, other games aswell, so its something on my system not the game

so this leads me to believe the actual card i have is damaged
ill find out tomorrow when i put my x850 in another system and see if it has the same problems...

and yes, the girl is hot. lol

I had issues with the PRO also.  Ended up returning it and bought a BFG 6800gtoc and it works great. You can also try flashing the Pro Bios to an XT bios or such. Heard it may work.

Sounds like the video card is fucked up.
Have an x850xt and run perfectly BF2 on all high AA 4x 70-100FPS

Be sure to have properly and complete uninstalled the nvidia driver and to have done a clean install of th eati drivers, (i use the omega driver, they are better without that shit catalyst control center) and have any problems at all.

And if you have already played with your nvidia with the account you are currently playing with the ati, then try to create an offline account and try if the problem persist, i dont know how can i help you.

PS: ATi > Nvidia

Im about to Buy an X850 Pro AGP. After reading this post i am confused. So do i buy it? or what? Did 1.22 Fix this problem with ATI drivers? currently, im running a Bfg 6600 OC and that can barely run on low (if i ever get in jet or heli, it drops 50-60 fps and the screen is jumpy but i have nice monitor). i am trying to upgrade but now im scared to drop 280$ on something that wont work right. please someone reply quickly. If u need to know my specs, just reply, cuz i dont want to have to go digging through me stuff unless its necesary. HELP ME!, REPLY!

****edit*** Erotic_slave master, i have the same ram but i am running a 2.8 Pentium processor, what mother board u running? im ASUS.

A more frugal decision usually involves just RMA'ing your card yourself, or in extreme circumstances, buying another one entirely. I've known people who have spent upwards to $600 taking their computer into various shops, that just charged them for looking at the control panel and poking at the computer guts with no real results.

But sometimes, it's not the card. It's the software.

Right, but on this PC alone, i have used over 4 different video cards. all have performed fine, 1 including a ATI Radeon 9800. im not worried about the software issues. ASUS is very compatible and all installations with XP and everything software wise if very easy. I just want to know if A. it will work with Bf2. B. if it gets me the higher FPS on Medium Settings and C. it wont Nerf my computer or my monitor. What u mean RMA? im computer wise, but some terms are beyond me. And me and my bro built this compy, we know it inside and out. thanks for the response!

****Edit**** i have a few days to mull this over, before i get my car back. So anyone who has insight to helping me make my decision gimme a whistle... literally... jk. any way. hope you reply. thanks

If you'd actually bothered to look in the manual, you'd notice the X850 pro isnt in the list of approved graphics cards.

That doesn't mean anything. I had a x850, and it performed very well. Try and uninstall BF2, and reinstall it, sometimes the server caches, and setting caches get full, and tangled up. Everytime you change a setting it creates a new folder, and profile for it.

no x850's dont have problems with bf2. but i think u should go with a 6800 because of SM3.  Game makers will soon stop using SM2.0b   so yea.  ur somewhat future proof with an nvidia card
