What would be the best relatively cheap GFX card I could get if I want good performance and want to wait for DX11 before getting a really nice card???
GTX 260 or something else???
I can get a GTX 260 for ~$145 @ newegg, or a comparable HD4870 for the same...
I'm currently leaning to Nvidia, but am not set on anything either...
I just want to play BF2, Empire: Total War, and other stuff until BF3 and I don't really want to go more than ~$150-175 since DX11 is just around the corner...
Build's Likely specs:
CPU: Phenom 2 940/955 w/ Xigmatek Dark Knight or Scythe Mugen 2
Mobo: GA-MA790X-UD4P
RAM: OCZ Platinum AMD Special 8GB ddr2 1066/OCZ Gold DDR2 1066
PSU: Corsair 620W modular
Case: Cooler Master 590 w/ 5-6 fans
OS: Vista Home Premiumx64/7 Home Premium x64
Monitor: ASUS 22" 2ms Widescreen
HDD: Samsung f1 1TB
GFX: ???
Cost w/o GFX: ~$1310
Budget for now(excluding DX11 upgrade costs): ~$1450-1500
Also:
I could get the system I'm looking at from a builder as a custom set up for ~$50-100 more than if I build it myself. Is a 3 year warranty potentially worth that $50-100???
(I'm not really good at tech stuff, but I know people who work in Tech fields, who could probably be of more help for tech support)
idk if it's worth extra for warranty coverage
