One day there will be a pmp with the video playback capabilities of MPC+CCCP+some other crap
And I'll buy it
And I'll buy it
As I said before bringing a zune over to a friend or family's house is much easier than setting up shop with a laptop. It is also good idea for travel.Winston_Churchill wrote:
Where would you go that you need to bring HD movies around with you? I bring my laptop to the tvs around the house with its HDMI
Also, not a lot of movies use mp4. You'd probably have to encode them yourself for a majority of them. I wouldnt buy it for playing movies anyways, it looks like a great step up from my ipod touch

Oh, I see. Yeah, I'd never really do that so thats why it doesnt interest me much.
Really? All mine are from private trackers I've only seen a couple movies with mp4 in HD... where do you get yours?
Eh? the zune is not a phone so it would be compared to the touch... and how is it a better deal when the 32gig zune costs less then the 16 gig itouch?Kimmmmmmmmmmmm wrote:
the iphone is a better deal and awsumr
Thats a pretty brutal video bitrate for HD, not even 2000kbps? Scene 720p rips are around 4500kbps areaKmarion wrote:
Further research has revealed that a good deal of my movies are in this format.

Mpeg-4 720
Which is fully compatible

I'll stick to my x264 mkvs
Edit: Also, thats not 720p lol, 720p is 1280x720 (or whatever cropped value is)
But its also not HD, which was what the whole point of this argument was Thats just a high quality DVD rip, which you could probably do the same with a 1.3GB x264 mkv rip.Kmarion wrote:

But we were talking about HDKmarion wrote:

makes "the argument" obsolete.. 'course if you read what I wrote earlier MS claims that Zune 4.0 will do this at sync.
Okay true, but still... Lower quality from transcode is guaranteed, you have to encode from source for good quality. Also I'm still wasting both hard drive space and time when this should be implemented from the start.Kmarion wrote:
See edit. Most descent transcending program will let you adjust the quality. I don't think anyone is putting their entire movie collection (thousands) on their portable media players .
Right now it does not support mkv natively. At least not from what I have seen.
O' I know.. and I don't.justice wrote:

We were talking about the HD independent movies made as projects by film students that we download.Kmarion wrote:

We wouldn't download a copyrighted movie, those sales are how people make a living. If we downloaded how could they feed their families?
The new iPod touch is out. It has a new design: chrome rim, with a tapered back similar to the iPhone, but thinner. It now includes external volume controls as well. It also has Nike+ integrated with no transmitter needed (you still need the in-shoe transmitter, but it has an RFID receiver built-in) as well as on-the-fly genius playlist creation, all included in the new iPhone 2.1 software. It also comes with new prices, available today: $229 for the 8GB, $299 for the 16GB, and $399 for the 32GB. That's $100 cheaper than before. Here are all the features
Same price as the Zune + camera and apps? Zune is going to need a bit more to convince me right now, especially considering Microsoft isn't selling them here!New iPod touch: All iPod models have been discontinued in the stock databases, so new units are a given, even if they arrive to the shops later than expected. The only question is the feature set. Would it have a new camera? Looks very likely, as new cases pop absolutely everywhere. New storage capacities? It is a very strong possibility. A new processor, once again leapfrogging the iPhone? Perhaps new materials? We will see about that. Hopefully, it won't be just our imagination.
same price are you kidding? the 32gig zunehd is $289 still more than a $100 less than the similar ipod touch, but yeah i guess that camera really makes up for that $100 ....Winston_Churchill wrote:
Hmm, I actually just lost my ipod touch so I'm in the market for something new.
These apparently aren't being sold in Canada so I could pay a premium to buy one off ebay. Or I could get a new Touch since there is apparently a huge new revision coming out in response to the Zunes. The new iPod touch is out.
