I don't listen to 50 cent or Coltrane or whatever, but I don't go yaking around like our OP here, that they must be two of the worst bands ever.

Lel. First you go apeshit over that nu-metal stinks and when someone says something remotely bad about your idols, you get mad. Tsk tsk...Uzique wrote:

John Coltrane isn't my idol! I just find it hard to fault a jazz-legend! Got to have respect for people that help to define a genre!Ultrafunkula wrote:

Down talking the works of Coltrane is a bit more audacious than calling out shitty cloned nu-metal bands as being artistically dire...

Oh come on, drop the crap and be creatively objective (if such a standpoint is ever possible):
Most nu-metal bands such as Korn and Slipknot make paint-by-numbers Drop D rock with angst-ridden 13-year old lyrics, guitar riffs that could be played by a wheelchair-bound quadriplegic, and drum rolls'n'fills that have been used and used and recycled and used since the dawn of heavy-metal.
Coltrane's jazz legacy demands a little more common respect, and is a little more artistically diverse and accomplished.

No I get your point, and I agree.
That's my first post was pretty much a thread-disapproving write-off.
It's a matter of opinion - a commonly held opinion at that - and doesn't need to be stated.

I don't say at all that Coltrane is crap. Not at all. The talent he had was surely great, which I respect. I'm just not into that type of music. Just picked two completely different types on purpose. Should've said so in the post, but atleast we got a nice chat about it this way Although at a several week training camp in the army, I often was listening to Jazzofrenia in pitch black while I was guarding a damn roadblock for several hours in the rain. Was the only radio station that was loud and clear so far in the woods
Oh no, I got what you were trying to say; just that you could have come up with a better example even if it was facetious. One that was actually a band would be good.Ultrafunkula wrote:
