A problem with a fill-and-drain valve inside space shuttle Discovery's aft compartment has scrubbed the Wednesday morning launch attempt for STS-128. The launch team is evaluating the issue and has not set a new launch date and time at this point.

That sux!

This is where you can watch the Ares  I First Stage Motor Test for anyone who is interested.

http://mfile.akamai.com/18569/live/refl … bkup=51523

"Live from the ATK Test Facility in Promontory, Utah 1:30 PM - 2:15 PM CST" is what it says now. Only about 5 mins away.

Edit2: You can also watch the Ares  I First Stage Motor Test on NASA TV.

Edit: They pushed the launch back to Friday August 28 at 11:59 pm EDT.

Ya I know, I was watching the test when they had to scrub it because of auxiliary power unit failing.

I think it is very unlikely the shuttle would have launched despite the valve problem. It's looking nasty over here.

btw they just misreported on the radio that the shuttle WAS going up after midnight.. I loled.

Sweet pictures Kmarion Love the third and the last one especially.

One thing I'm wondering though is whats that steak orbiting around on the first, fourth and sixth shots?

Most likely NASA weather surveillance. On launch day/night the weather coordinator flies a T-38 and the Shuttle training aircraft to feel out the weather conditions.

I can't wait until they launch the Ares V, that thing is bigger and more powerful than the Saturn V, I never thought they'd make anything that big ever again. Fucking huge

I saw a Delta II go up at night when they launched Kepler and it was amazing. The Ares V is going to be amazing.

i hope the Ares rockets don't have as many issues as the space shuttles do @_@

Also kmar, 11:59PM EDT isn't exactly 'Friday morning.' In fact it's Friday night.
