2 quick wickets lost in the morning. Broad is on it, Ponting is going to be a bastard though, you just know it.
everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously. ♥
I told you he was going to be a bastard. Only now he gets out for 66.
But then Clarke goes for a duck.
220-4 - Getting there. Two or three more wickets today would make things really comfortable.

Well that was shit.

Lame.
Our batting order, while good, is astonishingly brittle... the Ashes were lost because of two sessions (out of 50-odd) in which Australia lost a total of 16 wickets.

gg England, i did'nt follow the ashes this time and im glad i did'nt.
An excellent series I thought. As always you get dodgy decisions, close games, games won and lost by weather but if you were to point a finger at why Australia lost Id point it back to the very first match in Cardiff. Strayer just couldn't take that last wicket, two bowlers at the crease (Anderson and Monty?) and they both held their ends up.
Freddie has gone Broad has emerged (yet again) and it looks like England have found a good batsman in Trott, South African born but that's not usually a problem with the selectors.
I think Ponting was gracious in defeat, wouldnt be suprised if something gives now, probably him being capt. but I cant see anyone to take over, maybe Hussey or Katich? But if Strayer can convince him to carry on and play they will always have that chance of winning regardless of who they are playing, imo he is the worlds number 1.
I was chuffed to bits when we last won The Ashes in 05, and just as much now, more importantly on our soil. Not just because we beat the ol enemy but because it puts cricket on the front page. Hopefully more and more kids will now pick up the bat and ball and want to play and see the players as hero's. Im glad their hasnt been any over the top celebrations as last time, obe's handed out willy nilly, lets not get carried away I think its fair to say Australia in a trangender period (ummmm ok not that word but you know what I mean).
An excellent series and an excellent thread.
It can be closed now unless anyone has anything to add ?
Oh and I think it would of been so differen't if Brett Lee had played aswell.

Sad to see the thread end, it was good to discuss cricket with others from both here and England, even though the result didn't go our way.
Cheers to '27 for starting the thread, now bring on the one dayers!

No worries in regards to doing the thread someone had to, it deserved a thread.
When do the one dayers start?

Oh come on one dayers. Those should be a good battle, especially if Lee is used for them.
Might as well use this thread for those as well. No point creating a new one.

I read somewhere Ponting was keen to play on till the 2013 ashes tour. He will stay captain until he retires, Australia just does not fire them. When he finally does retire, Clarke will be captain and if it was me choosing I'd go with Haddin for Vice.1927 wrote:
