Honestly... This is how I would look at it.

If you like the xbox controller more, get xbox. If you like the PS controller more, do that.
If you don't care, look at HOW often you will play games online, and if you care about chatting with friends while your trying to game.

I like the PS controller, but can use either. I play online games very occasionally. PS3 is a huge winner because I can go a month with out online console gaming easy. Online service is there when I want it, but I don't have to pay for the huge gaps when I am not using it.
And when I do play online all I want is to fucking play online. If I REALLY wanted PSN does have voice chat, just not in game (yet). I don't have any desire to chat with people who are playing another game so it all works out perfect for me.

Plus I like racing games, and its nice to be able to plug a normal wheel in and have it work.

Most big games come out on both consoles anyways.

I just want to play sports games mainly. The internet will be hard wired. I see the xbox is 120gb, but the new slim is 120gb plus 100 bucks cheaper.

I just don't know.

Do you want to play sports games while paying monthly talking to your friends online who are playing shooters? so far it seems that is the only benefit listed... And it will cost you an extra $100 up front, then a monthly subscription...

Seriously though it seems like the main thing anyone has been able to point at is XBL has cross game voice chat... Unless some one else can point out some other amazing features I don't see that being worth $100, then more every year.

Unless there are some AMAZING games you want only on Xbox, or you REALLY want to play with a certain group it doesn't seem like there is any actual reason to buy the xbox?

It won't ever affect the performance of the game, no. On some games, booting from the console hard-drive will make it load-up marginally faster, but you won't be playing with a higher framerate or better settings or anything like that, the hardware doesn't make as much of a difference as it does with PC games. The straight-up benefit of a bigger HD is that you can simply keep more stuff... downloaded content, demos, videos, installed games, save-files etc.

Mate, don't be a sheep and get the xbox because the majority of people get it for some strange, deluded reason.

The PS3 is more reliable, I've heard online is way easier to set up on PS3 than xbox, and if your going to be talking to no one, there's no reason why you should listen to the "XBL is better" fags.

$300 for the better console with 120gb hd is an absolute steal, and think about it, the coolest people here have PS3s, me, jord and surgeons.

Surgeons even owned an xbox360 and then decided to get a ps3, why would he do that? Because PS3 is better. And at this new price it's awesome.
