Just a quick update. We have what we believe is the final version of Battlefield 2 v1.50. We have a little bit of office politics to sort out regarding the update but once thats cleared up we'll be good to release it.
Unfortunately I can't tell you what the office politcis decision is about but it is worth the slight extra delay. There won't be another public Beta of this version, instead we will do a closed Beta to get a faster turn around and is basically to make sure things are still OK like the connection to servers issue.
You will need to have Battlefield 2 installed to version 1.41. We won't support installing over a previous 1.50 Beta version (it might work without issue but it might not so to be safe install over 1.41) so feel free to uninstall/delete that version.
Good news though, no?

What I meant was that with no more silly insta-prone belly flopping on every corner and much less bunny hopping resulting from that too, the game now looks like the basic theme makes you think: soldiers, realistic weapons = war game.
Before, people were basically playing Quake 3, dressed in camouflage hopping & flopping around, even shooting the Eryx at your feet like it was a fully-auto rocket launcher...
I didn't mean that I felt any change in the game mechanic.
I just wanted to express that the game now plays as one could expect and as DICE originally intended.
And frankly, before you just had to adapt to that hopping & flopping gameplay style, because if you tried to actually use tactics, teamwork, proper covering like you would expect from a "full out war on the modern battlefield", you'd be killed on and on and on.

But as someone who hasn't played the beta, is this really a game-breaking change? I get that it's unneeded, but does it take more than a round of gameplay to get used to it? They bring out the betas, with prone deviation, jump/prone delay, falcon controls, 10x more bugs than there already is, joysticks not working, not being able to alt/tab, commander glitches, menu glitches, not being able to apply settings etc etc all people wanted was a few things to make 1.41 a bit better than it already is and it seems liek they are changing it all, for no reason.
I would be more than happy if they completely scrapped 1.5, theres no way I'd stop playing if they didnt bring it out, at least then I'd know all the servers would be sorted and I could carry on playing the way ive always played
