You mean Fail-Box. I won't get a slim ps3 only because I already have a PS3, however I hope this converts a lot of people to play a better console before hoping on the microsoft bandwagon.

I think you'd be happiest with a 360 from everything you've said. You honestly can't go wrong with a PS3, but I think you'd prefer a 360. And don't worry about getting the RRoD because it's 99% not going to happen with the Jasper chipset.Red Forman wrote:

It is true, for the casual gaming market, and especially for Americans, the Xbox 360 is more for them. For people who want a little more than a console, you get a PS3. No if's or buts, if you know you're only ever going to use your console for games and you know you won't ever watch blu ray films or need a web browser or any of that shit. Although I think the games argument can be put to rest now. The PS3 has practically all the games the X360 has these days, and they both have their exclusives

Personally I don't give a shit about 'console wars', I have them all and play any or all of them depending on what tickles my fancy, and where the good games are. The only gaming platform I would ever take 'seriously', as seriously as gaming can be taken that is, is the PC. The rest are just good for social games with a beer, or a quiet cheap night in.
Essentially this PS3 Slim is just a change in Sony's marketing policy regarding the same old, same old product. I think they may be shooting themselves in the foot a bit because, as acknowledged, the Xbox360 just seems to cater and give off that casual, easy and accessible image a lot better. Slimming down the PS3 and making a few minor hardware/pricing changes could work to their favour... but it could just as easily make no fucking difference at all.

Basically people (like you) still think the PS3 is at the same place as it was a launch. Not that many people but enough that the 360 is still just beating the PS3 each month on sales. If you compare the quality of what you are getting overall I would expect the PS3 to be selling slightly more than the 360, but at its old price it wasn't, because that factor put people off.

It felt the same to me. I don't know what XBL has over the PSN that justifies the extra cost. Maybe outside of the actual multiplayer online gaming (which is practically the same on XBL as it is PSN) the XBL has more stuff than the PS3 or something, but that still doesn't exactly make up for it... and it most probably doesn't feature much more than the PSNUzique wrote:

Then you don't have enough regular LIVE friends. That's a key feature. Party up with friends in your own channel. See what they are up to. Play your game, join team chat. In between games, go back to party chat. Can't say if PSN has that feature now, what with the latest update though.Vilham wrote:

If you want a games machine for gaming only, go with 360.
Personally I'm of the PS3 persuasion because of all its media capabilities. I'm willing to sacrifice a little bit on the gaming end (don't get me wrong, I love the games on PS3, but we all know XBL>PSN) to get a better all-around media device. Being able to stream music and movies from my PC, or just having it all on the PS3 HDD (because you can upgrade it, sweet) is nice. It's a great hub that can be used for anything. Have some friends over and let them pick a movie, make it a jukebox for music at a party, watch some picture slideshows. Yes, you can do those things with other electronics equipment, but it's nice to have it all in one bundle.

I don't yet have a PS3, but I've known I've wanted one for the longest time. Unfortunately I'm not as hardcore into console gaming, so I don't think the higher price justified a purchase. Now that the price has come down and there's a new, smaller model out, it's the perfect time for me to buy. And yes, I guess it is an attempt at making more money by Sony, but they need it, they're a business and their console is in last place. The problem with current gens is they focused too much on online multiplayer and other PC dominated areas. They ended up having shit service, with small game libraries, for extra money, and they got rid of everything that consoles exist for. The PS2 focused on local multiplayer and they weren't expensive enough to wonder if you were wasting your money, which of course, you weren't.
In short, the only reason to buy a 360 is netflix, the only reason to buy a PS3 is blu-ray, and the only reason to buy macs is logic.
