From our previous experiment:

    * More people died from the vaccination than from swine flu.
    * 500 cases of GBS were detected.
    *  The vaccine may have increased the risk of contracting GBS by eight times.
    * The vaccine was withdrawn after just ten weeks when the link with GBS became clear.
    * The US Government was forced to pay out millions of dollars to those affected.

What do you think?

If you have kids, will you let them get the needle?

No, because it's not a disease virulent enough or dangerous enough to require vaccination.

If it were more serious, though, certainly I would get vaccinated.

PS. That's why you should never put political pressure on people to make a vaccine before it's ready. The consequences can be bad. This case proves this, I think.

A much more practical vaccine would be the one for HPV.

Governor Rick Perry tried to distribute this vaccine to teen girls throughout Texas, but the bill he was attempting to push through was criticized by his own party among the Religious Right.  Not surprisingly, about a year later, it was confirmed that HPV had spread much more thoroughly among teens than before.  Had the bill passed, HPV would likely be much less common among younger people in Texas.

So, the real epidemics we need to worry about are sexually transmitted, for the most part.

Daily Mail wrote:

A warning that the new swine flu jab is linked to a deadly nerve disease has been sent by the Government to senior neurologists in a confidential letter.

The letter from the Health Protection Agency, the official body that oversees public health, has been leaked to The Mail on Sunday, leading to demands to know why the information has not been given to the public before the vaccination of millions of people, including children, begins.

It tells the neurologists that they must be alert for an increase in a brain disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), which could be triggered by the vaccine.

GBS attacks the lining of the nerves, causing paralysis and inability to breathe, and can be fatal.

The letter, sent to about 600 neurologists on July 29, is the first sign that there is concern at the highest levels that the vaccine itself could cause serious complications.

It refers to the use of a similar swine flu vaccine in the United States in 1976 when:

  • More people died from the vaccination than from swine flu.
  • 500 cases of GBS were detected.
  • The vaccine may have increased the risk of contracting GBS by eight times.
  • The vaccine was withdrawn after just ten weeks when the link with GBS became clear.
  • The US Government was forced to pay out millions of dollars to those affected.

Concerns have already been raised that the new vaccine has not been sufficiently tested and that the effects, especially on children, are unknown.

It is being developed by pharmaceutical companies and will be given to about 13million people during the first wave of immunisation, expected to start in October.
If I were you do NOT get the vaccine...

It would suit you nicely if it were true, what with your 'everything scientific is evil philosophy'.

The jabs can cause GBS in a very small number of cases.

Influenza also cause GBS but at a much higher rate.

Vaccinations can reduce the both the number of influenza cases and GBS cases in comparison to a wide outbreak.

The daily mail is possibly the least reasonable source of information about science. Just to give you a hit at their stupidity, they had a simultaneous compaigns both for and against a cervical cancer jab. In Ireland where it wasn't available they campaigned for this life saving jab to be given to everyone, in England where it is given to everyone, it was suddenly very dangerous and they campaigned to have it abolished.

I'm not kidding.

They also run stories about how pretty much everything either causes or cures cancer, often both. For example they declared that facebook causes cancer.

I'm seriously not fucking kidding

They notably turned this scientific article. Into "Babies in front-facing buggies suffer 'trauma' and grow into 'anxious' adults, says study".

The Daily Mail is infamous for being a leading cause of the MMR vaccine hoax that caused vast numbers of children to miss out on vaccines leading to a huge rise in measles cases.

The Daily Mail is the source of one thing and one thing only, bullshit.

Christ. It's people like you who say vaccinations cause more problems than they solve as if the doctors are out to kill you, and so deny your children whooping cough vaccinations because there is a slight chance they will get sick.

If it were up to me vaccinations when proven safe would be mandatory.

The thing about vaccinations is that it quickly becomes ineffective unless everyone has it.
