A false assumption my young friend. I support reform on many levels. Just not this plan. That is also progress.Poseidon wrote:
It's, in a way, a freudian slip. They do nothing to help their cause because they're against progress.
I'm talking about the severe, ultra "conservative" radical right wingers. Who somehow have become a voice of the party and are pandered to by the GOP even though they're a minority. Damn shame too.
It's the same case with liberals too nowadays unfortunately.
I agree. The GOP has unfortunately played the same card when talking about those who did not support the war.ATG wrote:

Pelosi and the democrats painting these Americans as anything other than that is sickening.
Then I will assume you are talking about someone more like me. I really don't care what you consider to be progress. You can go ahead and label the issues and people like myself however you want. The real fight for me is to stop the federal government from growing and actually remove their fingers from a lot of the areas they have them. If you want to debate the social and most economic issues then take it to the state legislatures. Much easier battle if you live in the right state, and much harder if you don't. Move to the state you like. My intention is to look for those candidates that are like minded to me and support them to the best of my ability. I also intend on showing my disapproval of the policies that go against my desires.Poseidon wrote:

Look what became of John McCain in the election and tell me the GOP doesn't pander to the extreme right.ATG wrote:

Which politicians are you talking about? Or do you confuse Rush with a politician?
The " mob " anger is as organic as it gets. Obama calls it astro-turf, lol. As in a fake organic roots movement.
We all know how lazy people are. They are making a stink because they are incensed patriots who disagree with the hard sudden move into a quasi socialistic dictatorship ( as some feel ). You can't get people to show up and get in politicians faces unless they are really angry.

In this day and age, dissent is basically as manufactured as patriotism is.
Special interests of every flavor can manipulate the public with faux protests and counterprotests.
It's all possible because the average person is clueless, uneducated, and/or complacent.
If nothing else, the debate on healthcare in this country is a sad reminder that the integrity of a democracy is dependent on having an educated populace. We clearly are lacking that education -- at least in terms of civic affairs.
Sounds very "community organizer"-ish.Turquoise wrote:

That's what I find so blindingly ironic about this whole situation.
