Lead plaintiff Nancy Baird filled her contract with California to provide embroidered polo shirts to a youth camp run by the National Guard, but never was paid the $27,000 she was owed. She says California “paid” her with an IOU that two banks refused to accept - yet she had to pay California sales tax on the so-called “sale” of the uniforms.

Now there's government for ya.  I happy my bank accepted my IOU though.

I wouldn't pay the taxes and I would take to court.

She should send an IOU back to them to pay her taxes... Too bad it wouldn't work.
Interesting that BO wants to use California as a role model

"Think about that. California — producing jobs, their economy keeping pace with the rest of the country, and yet they have been able to maintain their energy usage at a much lower level than the rest of the country."

"California’s deficit for 2010 is projected at $33.9 billion.
California’s debt burden has multiplied so fast that it now has the worst bond rating of any state.
New York ranks first, California second and New Jersey third in moving vans leaving the state. "

He is delusional... Hope i don't get turned in for fishy comments...lol

I would agree that California is probably one of the last states you want to use as a role model for most things in general.

Many sparsely populated states like North Dakota seem to be doing ok though.
