For those of you who want to use SF weapons/tools for MEC/USMC/CHINA armies on BF2 maps try this:

*** Below are instructions on how to port SF weapons/tools into BF2 maps. By following these steps your online MP will not be affected. You must have a copy of SF installed ***

1. Created a mod called Unlocks using the contents of the BF2 mod.
2. Created another mod called UnlocksSF where I copied the contents of the xpack mod into it.
3. Edited the mods\UnlocksSF\ServerArchives.con to point to my Unlocks mod instead of BF2.
4. Imported my BF2 level maps into the mods\UnlocksSF\Levels directory
5. Edited the BF2 US_Sniper kit found in mods\Unlocks\Object_server.zip to add SF weapons/tools
6. Edited the grapple hook and crossbow ObjectTemplate.itemIndex # in their .tweak files found in mods\UnlocksSF\Object_server.zip\weapons\handheld. I used 7 for grapple and 8 for crossbow.
7. Created a shortcut on my desktop "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +modPath mods/UnlocksSF

In SP or CO-OP game here are my options now:
1 Knife
2 Pistol
3 M24 Sniper Rifle
4 Grenade
5 Claymore
6 M95 Sniper Rifle
7 Grapple Hook
8 Crossbow
9 Parachute

Check it out...

Note:  I made the mod Unlocks so I could add multiple unlocks to each kit when I just want to play standard BF2.  I did this by editing each kit.con file and changing the ObjectTemplate.itemIndex # in the weapon tweak file.  For example, in the US_Sniper.con file above that is how I inserted the M95 sniper rifle.  I could also change the parachute for the L96A1 Sniper Rifle.

when you say created a mod - do you have to have the bf2 editor?

No.  Just go into your ...\mods\ folder and create a new folder.  For example, I called mine Unlocks for BF2 and UnlocksSF for SF.  Then just copy the contents from \mods\bf2\ into your Unlocks folder.  Then copy the contents from \mods\xpack\ into your UnlocksSF folder.

Then create shortcuts pointing to your newly created mods.

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +modPath mods/Unlocks

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +modPath mods/UnlocksSF

From there I imported all the 64 player maps into my mods and increased the # of bots.

I'm sure it will work.  However, I don't have EF yet.

Should be able to copy the EF levels into the SF Mod levels and add the EF kits to the objects_server.zip file.  Then edit the EF kits to have the SF tools like crossbow and grapple hook.

how do you "create shortcuts pointing to your newly created mods"?

For Windows XP:

To create a shortcut on your desktop that points to your mod do the following:

1. With your right mouse button, click on your desktop (wallpaper).
2. Point to New, and click Shortcut.
3. Click Browse and go to C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe
4. Click Next.
5. Type a name for the shortcut. For example, UnlocksSF.
6. Click Finish.
7. Edit the shortcut by adding +menu 1 +modPath mods/YourModName after BF2.exe"

It will then look like this

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +modPath mods/YourModName

This freakin' kicks ass.  Works perfectly.  Gonna give all my kits the grapple/crossbow...

How did you get Karkand to look like that?  You can see forever...

Can't wait to play tonight with buddies on my lan.

I modified Kysterama's Strike at Karkand 64 Player map to match the MP version better.

All the credit for the hardwork on the navmesh/map goes to Kysterama. I just tweaked it a little more. I removed all vehicles that are not found in the original map

This file has the dust removed and increased view.  Copy this to your mod\levels\Strike_at_Karkand folder

Edit US_Sniper.con

ObjectTemplate.addTemplate USPIS_92FS_silencer
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate USHGR_M67
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate USMIN_Claymore
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate kni_knife
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate gbrif_l96a1
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate nsrif_crossbow
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate nsrif_grapplinghook
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate UnlockUSSniper
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate UnlockUSSniper2
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate ParachuteLauncher
ObjectTemplate.addTemplate USRIF_M24

Then you must go in to each weapon's .tweak file and edit their ObjectTemplate.itemIndex # to reflect the key to use in game.  In this example you would need to edit the L96A1, Grapple Hook, and Crossbow tweak files.

Under my UnlocksSF mod I edited the following in the Objects_server.zip file:

nsrif_grapplinghook.tweak
nsrif_crossbow.tweak

http://rapidshare.de/files/19369839/gra … k.pdf.html
http://rapidshare.de/files/19369893/crossbow.pdf.html

Under my Unlocks mod I edited the following in the Objects_server.zip file:

gbrif_l96a1.tweak

-------------------------

In SP or CO-OP game here are my options now:
1 Knife
2 Pistol
3 M24 Sniper Rifle
4 Grenade
5 Claymore
6 L96A1 Sniper Rifle
7 Grapple Hook
8 Crossbow
9 Parachute
