I recently got a new 1, you need to download the widescreen fixer to make it work properly, on the shortcut BF2 target, where it says +menu 1 + fullscreen 1 add +szx 1920 +szy 1080 after "+fullscreen 1" I tried changing "+full screen 1" to "+widescreen 1" but it doesn't make a difference.
Add those lines then run widescreen fixer- the 1 that's compatable with PB.

If the game wont start, go to my documents BF2 profiles, look for video.con in default profiles and also profile number (like profile 001) somewhere it should say your old resolution, mine was 1280x1024 @75HZ so it didn't work, I needed to change it to 1280x1024 @60hz because most monitors only run high resolutions at 60HZ.
Make sure it's a normal resolution in both the video.con files like 1280x1024 or 800x600- the game will still urn at 1920x1080 but it needs this in video.con, and change it to 60hz because I doubt you can do 1920x1080 on anything higher without forcing it or anything

also after adding the monitor in video settings i am trying to set AA to 8 but it wont stick, matter of fact no AA setting will stick.
i had help on this same issue once before BUT again i forgot. it had something to do with entering 8 in note pad. anyone

I've had that AA problem since day 1 you need to choose the AA you want I use 4xAA then it says restart game to apply settings, restart the game and it will go back to your old settings, choose that AA you want AGAIN lol then restart the game it should work lol if not try that but try clicking the apply button to the AA in game a few times befor you restart it might help, it works for me when i restart and apply it twice

It's probably the same file as the one you edit the resolution, video.con, I play with AA off now so it says antialiasingquality off if you play with 8xAA then try the number 8 or might be 8x I dont know

There is no widescreen fixer in battlefield 2. you can use the +syx and +syz on the launcher but that doesn't actually increase your resolution.
It just takes the highest resolution and crop the edges to fit. The image won't be distorted but you will be seeing less. If your monitor is 16:10, then 1280x960 should only give a 5% stretch to the image. I find it better than losing information.

"+widescreen" is not a command. +fullscreen is a real command but that has a completely different function. +fullscreen 1 or 0 alternates between windowed mode and fullscreen.

If you are having trouble with your settings not sticking, I recommend deleting your BF2 profile settings found in Documents > Battlefield 2 > Profiles. Just delete all the folders, start the game, and do all your settings all over again. You do need to restart for AA to take effect.

And the specific results of this fixer vs cropping: http://www.pbbans.com/forums/index.php? … p;p=261755

v1.32 of the widescreen fixer is Punkbuster safe, but I have played with the latest version and had no problems with PB.

Anyway, the new BF2 patch v1.50 will add widescreen resolutions with a fixed FOV.

Thats a third party software I have tried in the past. You should try it to see if you like it because it does promise correct aspect ratio.

I didn't like it because it has delay. The image is resized every time you go in and out of scope. There is a slight delay between image resizes and is very difficult to play with when people are shooting you and every second counts.

Also, I woudln't be so sure that it is completely punk buster safe. I had no problem with it myself a while back but someone on this forum just said they got PB banned with it.

At any rate, 1.5 patch is around the corner and that includes widescreen support.
