"Crimes have been committed. Lives have been lost and immoral treatments have been meted out to our dear youth, women and men," he said. "With the supreme leader's order of closure [of Kahrizak], a fresh opportunity has come up to launch an inquiry into the tragedy and punish the perpetrators."
But as the numbers mourners poured out of the nearby subway station and taxis along the highway, security forces retreated. One witness said police released detainees and began cooperating with the mourners, directing them to section 257 of the cemetery, where Agha-Soltan and others were buried. Mourners have been denied a permit to hold a ceremony in the city's Grand Mossala mosque later today, but protesters have said they will try to come together near the site of the mosque anyway, and march along nearby streets if they are prevented from entering the site.

And the clerics are turning against Amadinerjacket.

It would sure be nice if the Iranian people handled this and gave the Western world a good reason to tell Israel to sit down and shut up.
It sure would be nice if there would be peace.

Rumors and reports indicate around 100 people detained in the protests have been executed with many more in the que, charged with various capital offenses.

The Iranian mourning rituals for Neda Agha-Soltan are keeping it in the minds of the public, she's become such a martyr figure. Her death is tragic but certainly the resultant protests have demonstrated the will of the Iranian people and how backward the western view of Iranians has been recently.

The best thing that could happen to Iran is if certain hard line clerics started getting assassinated.

Martyrs and Islam really do seem to be a recurring theme.  Then again, Christianity has its fair share of that too....

I wouldn't say the Western view of Iranians is backwards -- just the neocon/Zionist one.

Either way, Iran is showing some progress here, but they've still got a lot of room for improvement.
