I don't know about a debate but this is pretty serious lol . I've never done X and never will but 40,000 pills - yikes ! I've never really heard of X being addictive so this is pretty shocking in terms of how much the humand body can take . Perhaps this IS in the wrong forum . Oh well .

Okay, I reckon the best way to spark a debate is with a statement or scenario that is bound to polarize opinions:

Obviously there is no way to draw an easy comparison to alcohol abuse, but:

If we make up a recommended maximum guideline of 5 pills (or half a gram of MDMA) a week (but no more than 2 in one day) and say that this is the Dr. U. O. Nuttah equivalent to the UK government recommended guideline for males of 21 units of alcohol
http://www.patient.co.uk/showdoc/23069189/ :

We know that he consumed: 40,000 pills / 9 years / 52 weeks = 85 pills a week average (let's put aside the peak usage of 25 pills a day for now).

Therefore he took 17 times my fictional recommended maximum user dose.

Therefore if he was drinking alcohol that would be 357 units per week (average).

If the average 70 cl bottle of vodka contains 28 units: http://www.libation-unlimited.com/i-39_ … f_red.aspx

Then he drank the equivalent of nearly 13 70cl bottles of vodka per week (or nearly 2 per day), when compared to my tenous recommendation of that 5 pills a sensible limit to avoid any severe comedowns or serotonin blues.  I'm not saying there wouldn't be comedowns or side effects, just like a hangover it would still be present but in a much more manageable amount.

So, based on peoples perceptions or sources on long term alcohol abuse, the description of his symptoms, my tenous maximum MDMA guideline dosage reasoning and excluding mental health issues (which can arise from both alcohol and MDMA depending on susceptibility and dosage):

Which do people think is worse for your body in the long term:  Serious alcohol abuse or serious MDMA abuse?

I don't think we have enough long term research to determine the effects of long-term MDMA usage. Alcohol has been around forever, so it si well researched.

However, I would imagine anything produced in a lab is far mroe dangerous than anything made from natural ingredients.

What does MDMA do to the body over time?  Alcohol can kill the liver.

MDMA has been shown to cause pin sized holes in your brain I believe. Now, I can get a liver transplant, but not a brain transplant (insert joke here)

Did they scan the brain before usage? or just after?

I've probably done 40,000 hours of gaming in my life. Well, maybe 30K. Would you believe 15K?
