a friend bought both my games for me via ebay auctions where he got keys. he seems to have lost them on me and now I'm sorta hooped. I'd like to know if there is a way to go into the game itself and find them? I don't wanna lose my current ranking and all my hard hard work!!!

thanks,

Friendly  :-)

I am afraid this is not an issue with bf2s.com - the site -  and therefore posted in the wrong subforum. Will be moved to BF2:Help.

now, on the topic: I take it your "friend" received the games in their original cover, with the manual, booklet, etc.. I doubt they sell blank game DVD's on ebay. Normally you would find the CD/DVD Keys for your game on the back of the manual or inside the cover.

I suppose the relevant keys would also be stored on the discs themselves ( since the installer needs to check if the no. you type in is actually correct ), but I have no idea how to find it.
But I guess the guys in the help subforum might have an answer to that.

I apologize for posting in the wrong Forum, what sub-forum did you move it to? all I see is that my thread says 'moved' and still shows in the BF2 - Help!. my friend DOES have the original packaging/manual/CD's for BF2 and he's being a sloth about sending me them...but for Special Forces, he bought a KEY only from the US for a significantly lower price to save on shipping and everything. unfortunately he says he's lost/deleted the email that had that key, before he sent me the information. well, he did send it to me once, that's how I got everything working, the problem is in my lack of hindsight, I forgot to write either key down for future use. I've been wanting to format for a short while now, which is why I'm more anxious to get the keys. I've already updated with the patches, which means that the keys are now 'encrypted' and there are no patch uninstalls available to see if I can recover them before it got encrypted    hence why I ask for the experts here.

If you know how to navigate through your registry, you can find the keys in there.

EDIT: Here. http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14539

EDIT 2: I just read that doesn't work anymore, so I guess you're screwed.

Maybe you can e-mail EA support with that hash and maybe they can hook you up? It's worth a shot anyway, but don't expect an e-mail in return for a while.

That's probably one of the (very) few things that will work..

Good Luck!
