Yeah I always get that same feeling creeping up on me when England are apparently doing so well...Mekstizzle wrote:
Built up a healthy lead of 441 runs on day three. Should look to get about a lead of 550 or something then declare. Hopefully England can actually win this. But I have a feeling that we'll snatch a draw from the jaws of victory
I reckon there's an 80% chance Strauss will bat for too long and the Aussies will just play for a draw. The highest ever fourth innings run chase ever has been 418 or something.
Well we still have 2 full days to get the Aussies out, even if we bat a little more tomorrow that should be plenty of time and runs to play with. Should being the operative word here.Mekstizzle wrote:

Yeah at this stage it's pretty much impossible for England to fuck it up. Unless rain intervenes, but speaking as an Aussie, I don't even want to see that.
My thoughts are that the Aus bowlers let the team down in the last test and the batsmen will let them down this one. Oust Johnson and bring back Lee or Clarke and we'll be much better for the next test. Although I'd really like to see Hayden out there instead of Hughes. Nothing against the guy but at this point I'd like the experience of Hayden stearing the ship. Too bad he retired

Johnson needs a lot, lot, lot, lot more work. I have no idea where his technique has gone in the past three months.

Well at least we have Hauritz holding the team together. I'm really starting to like his bowling. We need a decent spinner in the Australian side to make up for the loss of Warney and McGill.

There's some gay arse dark clouds where I am a few miles up north from Lords. Hopefully the weather doesn't ruin everything as we should win this one

I think the play has ended today. Australia need 209 runs on the final day with 5 wickets remaining. I dunno, it would be quite amazing if they pulled it off. It might be close this one
If they win it'll be the biggest fourth innings win ever! And by quite a margin I think. Surely England can't screw up this one...

You might be surprised how 75 years of history might spur the aussie batters on haha. They'd be killed when they returned for being the only aussie team to lose at lords in 75 yearsMekstizzle wrote:

I wonder what odds the bookies were giving Australia at the start of play yesterday and how that's changed for today?
Clarke seems to be in fine form and Haddin is doing quite a nice job himself. Granted the two of them have gotten lucky on a couple of occasions but given some of the umpiring decisions, I think we deserve a little luck.

What a fucking day ahead we have today. It wont be a draw and providing we get a wicket this morning we will do it. Strayer will go for it about 11.30 I reckon but then stop after they loose a wicket, pace and power we need today after getting these two out.
I'm available for the next game if they want.

Great move Strauss.
Clarke brought on, 1st bowl to Clarke and clean bowls him.
As I said, next wicket wins. Just has to be Englands game now
