The same reason the Kayan women still wear neck rings.
To honour their culture, their history, their ancestors.
You don't have to understand it, its how they feel and its has nothing to do with anyone else.

I can see how you'd get alot of women being forced into it, but there's also probably quite a few who are devoted enough to want it themselves. Just like nuns and monks and all the other crazy die hard religious folk, you could say the same brainwashing/terrified shit about them too. But obviously most people do it out of devotion to their religionsKmarion wrote:

Do you think it would work to tell the terrorists that the one that kills the most other terrorists gets twice as many virgins in heaven?
look above your post. but, i am flattered.
We're not arguing about security reasons, we're arguing about it being banned "if it is found to be degrading for women." Or maybe you could have just read my first post in this topic, its on the first page... the 5th response.Cybargs wrote:

At least come up with a decent reason like security or something.

Hmmmmmmm, with just a "FEW" Muslims in Europe, I am left wondering how this got on the French radar screen.Macbeth wrote:

Government spokesman Luc Chatel became the latest politician to wade into a growing debate over the burqa in France, telling French television on Friday the government may consider curbs on wearing the head-to-toe garment if it is found to be degrading for women.
A group of nearly 60 French lawmakers are asking for a parliamentary panel to consider restrictions on the burqa, which is also called the niqab.

Hmm well that is a clever way for trying to run all the Muslims out.
Ok, how about the real reason? France, like the US, is not the fucking Middle East, if you want a Middle Eastern culture then move your ass to the Middle East. Does that work for ya?DrunkFace wrote:

Certain islamic countries have religious police walking the streets. If they find a lone women, they hit her. If they don't like her attire or how it is worn, they hit her. If a religion needs a bunch of religious, 99% male assholes running around beating women they feel are not complying with islam's religious tenets, then for sure there will be some women who want to be rid of the damned burka/niqab but fear for their safety.

If I went downtown wearing the same thing the woman in the OP was wearing most likely I'd be arrested or fined or at least question by someone in law enforcement
Its a security risk, at least here in the US... who knows what you could be packing by wearing shit like that

questioned probably... arrested or fined probably not. Unless there was intent to cause social unrest or chaos.Spearhead wrote:

I love how when each example is taken alone it is only "a few" and when they are added up you are "generalizing". Well, it would appear the pacifist/apologists have their bases covered. Now if only they could do it with a realistic, blinders off, argument. then again, why would they need to do that?Harmor wrote:

And I love how with every post you imply that Islam is evil and should be purged from America then when someone points out the practical consequences of such a philosophy you backtrack and say "no my problem is with Islam not with Muslims"lowing wrote:

Shit I didn't mean to imply Islam was evil, I meant to come right out and say Islam was evil. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.Spark wrote:

I have said several times, I judge people individually, I judge Islam as a whole. Sorry, there is a difference and it does make sense. Denying it, or dismissing it on your part, does not nullify it as a legitimate stance.
Do you notice how you did not deny what I posted, but instead tried to deflect it in another direction? Did you further notice how I met your posts head on? This is the difference between a legit argument, and tactics employed by most of you on this forum.

Love is the answer
this cunt's logic is as twisted as his words. He starts off by saying that the burqa has nothing to do with Islam but still end up blaming Islam.[TUF]Catbox wrote:

I didn't watch the video but I'm going to assume he was talking about the way Islam, just like Judaism, hasn't made a separation between government, culture and religion, unlike Christianity.mafia996630 wrote:
