EDIT: On a more serious note I think if this has nothing to do with illness or scandal Palin just dealt a death blow to her future as a politician. It merely reinforces the idea of her as a deeply unserious person who doesn't care for "governing".

I don't buy that she wasn't able to take the sling and arrows of politics. C'mon, I'm sure those of us here old enough remember things like the Clinton death list, rumors about a Bush Sr. mistress, Reagan being the anti-christ (srsly), the Bush Sr. whitehouse being the center of a gay prostitution ring (look at the Mooney-run Washington Times ca. 1989 for that one), Whitewater, etc. etc. etc.

Any politician worth his or her weight is going to have the most ridiculous shit thrown at them at some point, especially if they're playing at a high level.

She did care about governing, she did a lot for AK. When she started her political career I don't think she anticipated the national/world spotlight thrown on her, nor her kids being the target of cheap late night laughs. This grew out of control.. anyone watching the events over the last year, or even reading this forum can see that. Look at the people here getting wet between the legs because "they can taste the blood"..  Maybe she thought it was time to start getting treated like a human again. That is certainly understandable and not out of the realm of possibility.

I might be a little hard on my comments but for me I guess its the fact that she has a handicapped baby at home that needs the attention of both parents. I would think that being governor of a state would be a tough enough job, but with her running around everywhere being a media pig, feigning hurt and slight and playing politics of division between real American and unamerica. So I really don't cotton to her message.

I really don't see how that handicapped baby is not being neglected by her. If she is shoving her own kin aside, then she lacks compassion for her own family and so I can only think how that would translate to her compassion for the rest of society if god forbid she should be elected to national office.

IMO she can jolly gee god dam it right down to nearest lake and go jump in it /sarcasm with colloquialisms


Personally I wish her well in her private life, her family needs her more than the public does.

Holy hell if that couldn't be said about every damn politician on the planet. Handicapped or not, all kids need attention. I would guess that most parents get help if they have handicapped children. It is a special condition that requires special (more than just parental) attention.

From what I've seen in the interviews and the press about her at home life she is very involved in their lives. But make no mistake, if she had Trig at her side every public moment the anti Palin brigade would no doubt claim she is exploiting him. Working families go through these things all the time. It is part of life's trials tribulations... and it is certainly not a Sarah Palin exclusive.

I don't blame her...I blame McCain.  He basically was a Democrat-lite in many respects.  Palin, in my opinion, solidified the conservative base in the Republican party.

There's the hatred of her from the left, for obvious reasons. But many from the conservatives still see her as the single most reason for the Republican defeat and hate her just as much.

You realised very quickly how she was not qualified, yet your party did nothing to correct the situation and replace her...

I'm not alone on the right with that assertion. Of course there are people that will follow the party no matter what. But you have to understand is that the margin by which Barry O' won was a result of many righties not having it (Palin) also. I do not hate Sarah Palin the person. I hate the ignorance that has taken over the GOP. Pandering to the far right when you have already secured the primary is just dumb. Those votes I can guarantee were never going to Barry. The move was redundant.

The irony for me is that Alaska is the most Marxist and Socialist state there is, they tax the hell out of oil companies and as I understand it every Alskan gets a government check every year.

The report obtained by The Associated Press says Palin is securing unwarranted benefits and receiving improper gifts through the Alaska Fund Trust, set up by supporters.
