Do any measure of research on the political leanings of religious groups and you'll find them overwhelmingly conservative.

Now do you think more people get preached a single view by someone at a university, or at a Church?

That's because liberals are educated and attend university, whereas conservatives attend Bible Camp to learn about why God stuck dinosaurs in the ground to test our faith.
Heh.

The thing is, the ultra right, ultra religious conservatives are a minority. Yet, the GOP panders to them (see: Palin).

I'd say the GOP would have had a VERY good chance if they'd picked a decent VP.
lol at the media spinning it into Palin vs. Obama

VP is the without a doubt the easiest government job a person can get. A retared monkey could do that job so I'd say she was perfectly qualified.

Liberal and conservative are just some peoples views on life with no right or wrong answer. It has nothing to do with intelligence.

It doesn't matter. People see Palin on McCain's ticket and it's an instant turn off.

tbh I'd say most people on this forum are some sort of liberal. Either a proper liberal, like most of the people criticising liberals, or a social liberal who are who they'd mostly call liberals.

Here's a description (lifted straight from wiki) of what Liberalism actually is:

Classical liberalism (also known as traditional liberalism, laissez-faire liberalism, and market liberalism or, outside Canada and the United States, sometimes simply liberalism) is a form of liberalism stressing individual freedom, free markets, and limited government. This includes the importance of human rationality, individual property rights, natural rights, the protection of civil liberties, individual freedom from restraint, equality under the law, constitutional limitation of government, free markets, and a gold standard to place fiscal constraints on government as exemplified in the writings of John Locke, Adam Smith, Ludwig von Mises, David Hume, David Ricardo, Voltaire, Montesquieu and others. As such, it is the fusion of economic liberalism with political liberalism of the late 18th and 19th centuries. The "normative core" of classical liberalism is the idea that laissez-faire economics will bring about a spontaneous order or invisible hand that benefits the society, though it does not necessarily oppose the state's provision of some basic public goods with what constitutes public goods being seen as very limited. The qualification classical was applied retroactively to distinguish it from more recent, 20th-century conceptions of liberalism and its related movements, such as social liberalism. Classical liberals are suspicious of all but the most minimal government and object to the welfare state.

The keynote speaker is Bruce Jenner, who won his Olympic gold medal before most of the event's target demographic was born. Jenner is surely better known to the future Republican leaders as the regular on Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

Misused.

But I can see why. Social liberal doesn't flow off the tongue so well....

But the concepts are central. Liberalism is all about free markets, lack of government intervention and personal freedom (civil liberties etc.). They are all liberal concepts.

If the GOP could get someone really popular like Miley Cyris or the Jonus Brothers on their side, THAT's how the GOP could win over young voters.

Remember, public schools are pretty much controlled by those who are liberal, and as such the kids are brainwashed with all their stuff.  Its not until they get into the workforce for a few years and realize that most of what they learned is poppy-cock will they even consider the GOP.

I think the line in "W." where Bush Sr. tells Dubya he fucked up Jeb's chances is pretty applicable here.  I know there would probably be a fair amount of people who might support Jeb as a candidate, but by-and-large the Bush at the end of his name would be enough to lose the election.

I can't really think of any dynamite up-and-comers in the GOP right now...

Hey Spark, I doubt even you can deny that 18 to 25 year old age group isn't exactly a pool of productivity. Most are still suckling their parents bank accounts while they try and figure out, what to do, now that their party is about to end and it is time to get serious about building a career.

So yup like it or not, my opinion rings true.

I do continue to love the classic Spark/liberal argument however, YOU'RE generalizing. Don't forget to call me a racist and a Nazi, to really punctuate your argument against what is said
