I agree with that.  We should have a better system so that legal immigrants don't feel like they are getting shat on.  Unfortunately, we basically do that to them right now.

Agreed, but Apaches are just so bad ass. How bout that new AH-1Z Cobra we's gettin? sexy. I was mainly going for the optics availability, and standoff distance strike capability they have, but what kinda anti-air capability do the mexican cartels have? How many hits from a burrito can AH-6's take?

Option 1: The great wall of America (20 metres high, 10 metres deep, sentry guns, UAVs, armed patrols, moats & smaller walls to help create kill zones etc)

Option 2:
* Legalise all drugs for personal posession & introduce a manufacturer/distributor licensing scheme - this will remove much of your cross-border crime.
* Massive development plan for Mexico akin to the post-WW2 rebuilding - this will create jobs in Mexico, thus removing the incentive to migrate illegally.
* Increase R&D relating to "automation" technology & robotics - this will help fill the void left by the lack of cheap labour caused by the departure of poor Mexicans.

As far as side-benefits go, both options will mean more jobs for Americans but one will also mean less drug usage & crime, increased trade, more profits for American companies, and more American-made goods on the shelves.  That same option will also shift the border problem south.

from the pedestal at the Statue of Liberty as it seems to no longer have any meaning to you.

Then some automated sentry turrets so you, personally, don't actually have to kill anyone.

Keep going down the dark road guys.
Damn straight we should remove that.  It's outdated.  Times change, principles change.

The world is a very different place today than it was back then.  We can't live the same way today as we did then.
Can your all important Constitution be far behind I wonder? It is, some say, also outdated. Times do change.

Automatic Vulcan cannons spaced every 1000 feet.  Activated by motion.  Vaporize anything that approaches the south side of the border.

Yeah, I'm pretty sick of illegal immigration.

I do agree with this.  And probably an increase in the number of H-2B visas available for temporary work.  Although at least you were able to be here while your papers were being processed.  One thing good that got done during the Clinton years was the extension of K visas and the creation of V visas.  Go go LIFE Act.

Simple, each state that shares a border with Mexico, deploys an Army National Guard helicopter unit to cover their borders. Instead of all these dumbass bailouts and shitty obama plans, buy more Apaches. Give said apaches to Nat'l Guard units, Apaches run 24/7 patrols along the border. Anyone seen crossing the border not through a checkpoint, gets a face full of 30 mike mike, with some Flechette rockets thrown in for good measure. Case closed. After the mexicans get the point and stop crossing, we could step down the patrols, ship the apaches and associated units to afghanistan, and let the Taliban receive a good licking from the influx of extra gunships. From there, we take over the world. Or legalize pot.
I like that idea, I always thought a shoot-on-site order would make the illegals think twice.

But that wouldn't work for urban environments. What do you do about places like San Diego and any other urban border area?

And one of the things I'd do would be to try and stop the stuff that's keeping Mexico fucked up. It's a resource-rich country if I'm not mistaken, the problem is the corrupt government and drug cartels. I can't blame a lot of people who come here illegally... it's better than living in the heat of a major cartel vs. government war.
But then you have the faggots who cross and make America change for them instead of them changing for America like everybody up until the 1960s.

The cost would be negligible compared to the benefits savings.  Especially when you look at how much money the government is spending on things we don't need.  Just build a solid 12ft high wall with watch towers.  It would last a long time, and it would be cheap to maintain.

I've seen them do what they did in the video.  This is the reason that patrols alone simply do not work.  We need a physical wall.  I've seen them gather up in a mob being organized by a man with a megaphone. Then when he yells go they run over the open border all at once.  Some make it through, and some do not.  The ones that don't make it the first time just keep trying.  All the border patrol can do is dump 'em on the Mexican side and wait for another wave to build up.

Maybe it's different than around here, but in the DC area most Hispanic immigrants fit in fine. The first generation immigrants are always the least integrated, but that's to be expected. If you're talking about things being bilingual... as much as I agree that they should learn English, I think we have to face the reality that we're becoming a bilingual nation. In Quebec, government stuff is in English and French.

Yeah a lot of them still have their flags out and those bumper stickers with Calvin pissing on the flag of another latino country, but what are ya gonna do? They're afforded a right to do so by the Bill of Rights.

Also, these guys can't 'make' America change for them. Unless they're citizens, they can't fucking vote! So you can either vote for politicians that have policies you agree with, or get a politician with policies you agree with to run.

Another way to deal with illegal immigration is to not focus so much on the immigrants, who are trying to make an honest living, and start focusing on the companies that hire them in the first place. The companies underpay them and abuse them because they know the government doesn't give two shits about them, just about the immigrants. If that changed, then you'd see illegal immigration drop because immigrants would no longer tell their families back in their home countries that work is easy to find.

Actually the 14th amendment, but who's picking hairs.

Speaking as a first generation Hispanic I think I can say that if you do not assimilate you are doomed to low wage, limited choice existence.  My parents made sure that I learned English and I have now have an engineering degree and am doing well for myself (even owned 2 companies at one point).

When the first generation does not assimilate that's when you have problems.  They say in their burrows surrounded by their own transplanted culture limited by their parents' boundaries.  (That's why I really am against English-as-a-second Language class in High Schools)

See the thing that makes the United States great, I think, is that you can come here and add a little bit of your own culture to ours.  (e.g. Saint Patrick's Day - 'for one day everyone's Irish)

Its not that any one culture is better, its that joining our culture by first learning English, the language of opportunity, makes it great.

The welcome mat is out, but please knock before entering.

Take a page from the RIAA handbook.

Pass a law that let's any lawyer sue an employer who is using illegals for $10k per head fee.  Any and every border state should be able to pass this law. With a bunch of ambulance chasers running down every employer looking for illegals it won't long before the employment market for illegals dries up.

Mexico may be sending us drugs across the border, but its the US jobs that are the crack cocaine for illegals. If the supply of those jobs dries up then there won't be an economic reason for them to cross the border.
