So I'm thinking of upgrading my PC.

I have

A Radeon X300 in a PCIe

and 2x512 RAM with 2 slots open.

What should I get to maximize a performance boost?

which would give me a more immediate performance boost?

the X1900 or the RAM. (The RAM makes my checkbook happier.)

what is ur budget? the ram and VGA card plays both a vital role in bf2... im using 3 gb of ram and its way better than 1 gb (faster load times)

Well to be honest, I'm not looking to spend over $300.

You can get an overclocked 6800GS for under $200.  They're pretty kick ass for the money.

I'm not a big Nvidea fan. I have had 2 of their cards shit out on me. I have never had a problem with an ATI card. Thanks for the tip though.

Ok, just curious, but should I get the RAM first or should I get the card first? ATM, i could get the RAM now and the card in a few weeks, or I could get the Card in a week and then have to wait a bit longer for the RAM.

well 1 gig is pretty good, 2 gigs gets u faster loadings time and stuff, but so far out of all my games only bf2 actually increases in performance with 2 gigs, others like fear and quake 4 work the same with 1 or 2 gigs

k thanks.

I think I'm gonnna get the RAM first, since I also play alot of HL2 and use Photoshop CS2 all the time, and I think more RAM would really help me out there. I can wait a few weeks for the Card.

yeah. I mean its not bad.

Actually, I enjoy some of the benefits that a lower graphics card offers. For example, when i enter alley ways, they are the same lighting as the streets because i have shadows turned off, which makes it easier to see enemy troops, whereas when I play on my friends, who runs on high, its a little more effort to see in alleys.
