I realize most all politicians are liars and full of crap... but this article really points out how BO has taken it to
the next level and then some... Does anyone think BO is as transparent as he said he would be?

By Victor Davis Hanson

In the first six months of the Obama administration, we have witnessed an assault on the truth of a magnitude not seen since the Nixon Watergate years. The prevarication is ironic given the Obama campaign’s accusations that the Bush years were not transparent and that Hillary Clinton, like her husband, was a chronic fabricator. Remember Obama’s own assertions that he was a “student of history” and that “words mean something. You can’t just make stuff up.”

Yet Obama’s war against veracity is multifaceted.

Trotskyization. Sometimes the past is simply airbrushed away. Barack Obama has a disturbing habit of contradicting his past declarations as if spoken words did not mean much at all. The problem is not just that once-memorable statements about everything from NAFTA to public campaign financing were contradicted by his subsequent actions. Rather, these pronouncements simply were ignored to the point of making it seem they were never really uttered at all.

Politicians often go back on earlier promises, and they often exaggerate (remember Obama’s “10,000” who died in a Kansas tornado [12 perished], or his belief that properly inflating tires saves as much energy as offshore drilling can produce?). But the extent of Obama’s distortions suggests that he has complete confidence that observers in the media do not care — or at least do not care enough to inform the public.

The “Big Lie.” Team Obama says that Judge Sotomayor misspoke when she asserted that Latinas were inherently better judges than white males. Yet the people around Obama knew before Sotomayor was nominated that she has reiterated such racialist sentiments repeatedly over many years.

Obama complained that his deficits were largely inherited — even though his newly projected annual deficit and aggregate increase in the national debt may well, if they are not circumvented, equal all the deficit spending compiled by all previous administrations combined.

I wonder how long the "its Bush's fault" or "its the Republican's fault" will go?

I mean Bush may have spread the campfire to the camp, but Obama is poring the gasoline to burn the forest.

Most political speeches are written by unknowing individuals, out of the loop and what seems to be "a great idea at the time" is in reality unattainable.  These ideas garner votes from the dreaming, uninformed or fly in the face of reality (deluded) voter.  It is only when elected does the herded public discover that what was promised just ain't gonna happen.

The media industries seem to feel that it is their divine right to know and disclose all there is to know.  Some things should not be transparent despite the pox of 'inquiring minds wanna know'.

It will continue until the media change course, so, forever. Or until some sort of revolt, whatever form it may take.

It's a little ironic that [TUF] is posting this given how much of a pass he gave Golden Boy Bush over the past four years. Blind allegiance to the fuhrer is what it seemed like to me. And as for state run media: ever turned over to Fox News? If you want opposite bias it's right there.

Surely you should have learned that politicians only say what it is politically expedient to say given current circumstances by this stage [TUF]? This isn't some 'new level' as you put it: it's status fucking quo. Fatalities in Vietnam: 'negative patient output'. Kidnapping: 'rendition'. Torture: 'enhanced interrogation techniques'. Work around of Geneva Convention: 'Enemy Combatants'. Hell Bush spent like a Democrat, at least this Democrat appears to be doing what it says on the tin.

How is it ironic Cam?  He agreed with Bush's policies which are the about the exact opposite of the Supreme Community Organizers.  How is it a surprise he's calling the Ogmaniac on his insane policies and political parade of blunders?  State run media?

It may be the norm [in your view of politics] as his opinion and statements on just about any given subject contrary to his actions. But this guys agenda does not favor America's best interests, quite the inverse.

@op:  There is nothing transparent in his administration.

Ok... Bush spent a lot... no argument...
and Obama is making him look like an amateur...
Spending amounts of money even his own party is questioning seriously...

Obama goes around to all of our adversaries and apologizes and they laugh at his weakness...

Obama fails to mention all the things the US does for the world(just apologies)...
The media is in the tank for him since he started running for President... Would you like to live in a country that doesn't have any scrutiny of what your leader is doing...(That would be Iran until the past few days)?

And God help you if you do have a dissenting opinion for our Messiah... you will be ridiculed and your character will be crushed... and when you show some concern for any of the the presidents policies... you will be labeled a racist and a radical right wing extremist...

Recently  Obama gave the 1 finger salute to the UK and the Queen and went to over to Cairo and kissed all their asses and apologized...

Obama wants to right the wrongs of the evil rich people... who obviously got rich by taking money from the poor...
Small business is 70 percent of our new jobs... good luck getting a loan for that business... then have fun paying for the socialized healthcare for your employees that will skyrocket guaranteed...(When has a govt program ever saved money or been effective...that's right...never!

and now he owns banks... 2 car companies... wants to cripple healthcare... Taxes on anything he and the govt can think of... They will tell
us what we can eat drink and drive...

Looking forward to seeing the new 2010 ChevObama Big Wheel with solar panels and a free BO bumpersticker...

I am not happy with either side of the aisle right now... Conservatives are all pussies and the liberals are all doing what they do best...tax and spend...

"Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers. "

This is coming from a guy, Victor Davis Hanson,  who "believes that the Iraq War is a good and worthwhile undertaking and that it has been, on the whole, a laudable success"
He also believes "Israel is not responsible for the turmoil in the Middle East"
and also that we should be at war with Iran.

This guy has about as much credibility as Lowing.

It's ironic because Bush spent as hard as most Democrats whilst trying to tout himself as the traditional Republican. That's why it's ironic. He also played the Christian card when he's about as Christian as Mullah Omar.
