Okay, so long story short my mother's a bit strapped for cash and since she divorced my dad, she's not covered under his employer's health insurance any more. So she has to pay for pricey insurance (since she has pre-existing conditions, which is fucking stupid because she has NO control over that) on her own. I don't want her to have a harder life because of this, nor do I want my sister to have a harder life because of it. So I'm feeling more compelled than usual to sign up for the military.

My questions are, do you get free (or cheap) health care during service with the military? Do you get cheap healthcare after leaving? Can direct family members be covered as well?

I've actually been considering joining the military for a while, this would just be another reason to do so.

Seven would probably know. but in the ADF, healthcare is 100% and discounted for direct family members.
